Pole snapped on a snag and it broke before the 8 lb. test on the first use. It’s rated to 12 lb. Love the feel and weight but be careful when pulling dead weight.

I have one of their Fly Fishing poles and I am very happy with that pole, so when I was looking for a new spinning combo, I came across this one and decided to take a chance, and I am glad I did. The reel is nice and smooth, the pole has good reaction and feels solid in my hands.

I ordered the 5'9 spinning rod & reel combo. The pole & reel came very easy to assemble and also included a handy storage bag. I do wish I would have ordered the 6'9 length as I feel I may have been able to cast farther. The rod is sensitive enough to feel when a fish nibbles. The reel casts very smooth and quiet and the drag is easily adjustable. My only complaint is that the length of the handle from the base of the reel to the end is a bit too long which interferes a little with casting. Fishing line is not included. All in all, I am pleased with the quality of this rod & reel.

Not bad, had to give it some time before reviewing. When I first received this combo, the reel was actually broken and the drag wouldn’t tighten down at all. No problem, contacted the seller and sent a replacement right away. Spooled it up with some 15lb braid, 10lb mono backing. Spooled alright, it is a bit uneven and but not bad, holds a lot more braid than expected. Feels great in the hand, combo is super light, casts great, and I like the shorter but. Rod is great, sensitive yet a lot of backbone(I ordered the MH). Detects bites pretty well and decently made for the price. I also like the hook holder.A few things I disliked. I did not have great experience with the drag. It seemed like no matter what I did, it would stay tight until the fish really pulls tight on it at that point the fish popped off. I know it would stay tight because I would have the drag all the way loose and would still take a human arm to get the drag loose. Also, drag doesn’t sound great(nothing to take away from it, just personal preference). As I’ve said earlier, spooling it was uneven. Other than that, it is a solid combo. It’s pricier than should be, but the rod ratings are great. I can throw a 1oz shad rig(3 way swivel) and cast it a country mile.

This fishing pole is just under 7 feet long and has a spinning reel. I ordered this for my fourteen-year-old who loves to freshwater fish. The handle for the reel can be installed on either side depending on whether you're right or left handed - no tools required. This combo does not come with fishing line which is standard and appropriate. The reel has a pretty big knob on its handle that is comfortable and spins freely. It is also very smooth while reeling in. The drag is easy to set, and there is a switch to allow you to lock the reel when you turn the handle in reverse. The rod's handle fits well in my son's arm pit or against his body, so he can get some good leverage when he needs it. The rod is stiff and firm but still has a good amount of flex. The eyelets appear to be high quality, but the lower eyelets are smaller than our other rods. There is a nice clip near the bottom for your hook when not in use.The set breaks down into three pieces for easy transport on camping trips and portages: reel and two sections for the rod. This is definitely his new favorite rod and reel. The only improvement I would make is to add a small lip to the bail, so you can easily open it with one finger. I love this feature on my own reels.

This is a medium action rod that has a good feel to it. The two pieces slide together and have a snug fit that won't easily come apart. Each eyelet is very smooth and allows the fishing line to flow through it with ease. The reel has a smooth action when bringing in the line, and has minimal back reel when you stop reeling and pull the line tight. The handle of the reel is a bit on the larger side for my liking, but I do not see this as a bad thing. I just like a smaller handle for storing my reels at home or in the boat. You also receive a sleeve for the rod. I do not see myself using this sleeve as it is only half the length of the rod, and once I put the two pieces of the rod together. I do not see myself taking them apart for transporting them.Overall I am very happy with this rod / reel combination, and I can't wait to use it more this summer.

I purchased this to attach to my bag while backpacking. I have used it with the small fishing reel as well as with a fly reel. You obviously cannot get the distance of a standard fly pole but it works well for small lakes and streams. You can't beat the convince of how compact it is.
