I love this item. My wife and I make sour dough bread all the time instead of buying bread at the store, and since we had our baby he gets hot very easily so we have to keep out house colder, which makes sour dough rising take a long time and it never very good. This heating pad fixed that problem right away! It is very easy and simple to use--you set it to the desired temperature and it just works.The only negative is that the black plastic cover over the buttons popped up on ours and we could see the springs and stuff underneath it, but I just pressed it back down and so far this has only happened twice. It doesn't really affect the product so no star reduction.Definitely worth it!

I’m not sure what’s happening but when I set it to 70, it changes itself to 82 within seconds. I’m assuming I received a defective one as there’s also a hard bump on the pad.

I have a number of these warming mats and also give them as gifts--I'm glad to see one advertised for one of the main ways I have been using them for years, which is to proof bread dough and formed bread during its last rise. This mat works as expected and it is nice that you can set the temperature, although according to my point-and-shoot thermometer for my pizza oven, the surface was running a few degrees hotter in some spots than indicated.The reason I've deducted a star is that the price is a bit high compared to other warming mats and I don't feel the square shape is as usable. Specifically, on most rectangular warming mats, you can set out a full half sheet of focaccia or rolls and it will fit; here, it is hanging off the edge. If you primarily make smaller or artisanal loaves, this will work just fine.

I used this heating mat twice in the last couple of days. I first used it to keep my F1 kombucha warm over the period of several days. The rubber pad got warm and I wrapped a towel around the gallon jug I had sitting on the mat with the kombucha brewing in it. It kept my jug at a steady temperature of 75°F. Perfect! When the kombucha was done, I next used the pad to proof my sourdough. I put the dough in a big bowl with a towel over it and again the mat worked just fine. The mat is large, but does roll up fairly well for storage. The touch buttons worked fine and I did use the timer setting for the dough and that also worked as advertised. So this will be a nice addition to my arsenal of cooking/baking tools.

Ok guys. Listen up! This is a great gift for those baker wives. It isn't a vacuum either. No sleeping in the doghouse with this gadget. Here is my story. My wife has been baking bread for a minute now and she bakes very well. She has always used the oven to help her sour dough rise. Or at least I think that is what it is for. It really is for raising the electricity bill. Huskies like it cold. She likes to bake. They don't go together in the summer! Believe me. So, when she said she wanted to try a sourdough starter warmer, didn't hesitate to agree with this passion to spend! It plugs in. Sits on the stove and saves me money! It has a thermostat, and you can set the temperature to what you want to achieve "the perfect fluffiness" at just the right pace. It's true! The bread tastes great, awesome fluffiness and I have absolutely no idea how it all happens. I am just happy to have the fresh fluffy perfection, a happy wife and a very much lower electricity bill! The cord is removeable and the mat roles up. So, it does not take up a lot of space. About the same as maybe a pitcher. She lays it upright in the cabinet right next to all her other baking tools. She loves this thing. She literally raves about how easy it is to clean up and the top of the stove stays clean in the process. Thank you. This mat was worth every single penny I spent.

I’m using this as a dough proofer rather than a sourdough warmer, and it’s been a game-changer. I bake asian bread often but don’t like sourdough, and my house is always too cold for proper proofing. I used to rely on my oven, but getting the right temp was such a hassle. This warmer keeps a consistent, gentle heat that makes proofing so much easier and more reliable. Highly recommend it for any bread baking enthusiast!

The mat came in today and I was really excited to use it. As you can see in the picture. The panel came out. Also, didn’t realize it only may doesn’t come with rest of the sourdough starter kit.
