Normally I stick with Klein tools for work, but I needed another PDT and this one was on sale. I'm really impressed by it so far. It feels great in the hand and the rubber grips do the job for those times when you need to punch down a run into a patch panel with only 1U of space to work with. The spudger really came in handy for those times. As for the action, I can successfully punch down a wire the first time ~90% of the time, which is pretty impressive. I'd recommend this PDT easily and I'll be paying a lot more attention to Southwire now.

Sure is loud when you punch with it, but otherwise easy to use and a great tool.

I bought this tool to work on a construction site.. We are wiring a 17 floor hotel.. This is my first time doing a job this size.. On any given day I have punched anywhere from 25 to 100 jacks. I have been working at this pace for the past 8 weeks.. and this tool is holding up fine and has no problems.. The blade is still sharp after punching 100s of jacks. I have my tool set to high impact. I find low impact sometimes requires an extra punch to set the wires into the jack.. This is my first "professional" grade tool.. so I don't have a lot to compare it to. I can tell you that it keeps up fine with Klien punch down tools.. Also. The fold out tools are great. I use them when a jack has to be repunched.. So all in all.. if your looking for a punch down tool that will work in a professional environment.. consider purchasing this one..My south wire finally broke. I replaced it with a Klein. The Klein punches faster, has punched the double the amount of jacks and is still going strong. I like SouthWire.. but their punch down tool dont seem to have the longevity of a Klein.

I like that it punches down the wires and fully seats them in one go. I didn’t really like that the two arms came out easy and would tend to completely fall out of the punch down tool.

I do commercial low voltage and personally recommend Southwire’s impact punch over others. The hook and seating tool near the blade portion make terminating patch panels that are sandwiched between switches MUCH easier. This feature cuts down on troubleshooting and retermination time, as well as wasting less length on coppers that are already too short.

This Punch Down is very reliable. I largely use the 110 cutting side. It's comfortable to handle and easier to use than others; especially in in tight spots.
