Product Description

Short Blade Chisel

Amazon.com

The Stanley 3/4-Inch Wide FatMax Short Blade Chisel is an ideal tool for the dedicated woodworker who repeatedly requires perfect grooves, crisp carvings and timesaving precision. The FatMax chisel provides increased strength in the neck area where common breakage occurs. Each chisel is friction-welded for a stronger blade and improved performance. The hardened and tempered high-chrome, carbon-alloy steel is ball-bearing grade; it allows the chisel blade to stay sharp longer, unlike forged blades that require more frequent sharpening for edge retention. Designed for resisting tough impact and treatment, the ergonomic bi-material handle has steel striking caps, allowing the user to work with steel-headed hammers. The FatMax chisel brings the innovative traditions of the FatMax line to those who demand and rely on high performance hand tools. The 9-inch blade offers exceptional strength and control. It comes with a reusable, full-length blade protector that can be wall-mounted for easy storage.

This Stanley wood chisel is razor sharp. The metal blade is through the tang and ends in a metal striking cap. It is made in England. This wood chisel is fine for general woodworking or even fine woodworking if you know how to use a wood chisel.

I really like these for the tool box. They are not for wood working unless you’re working with homedepot lumber. These are smash the hell out of it then sharpen with an angle grinder chisels.

This is a heavy chisel that can take a lot of abuse. The plastic hang tag packaging it came in can by reused to protect the tip in a tool bag. I bought it to take the antique glazing off of old windows and help free them from the jambs to move again. I used it hard the day after it came in and it held up well. I wouldn't use them for fine detail work but if you are looking for something sturdy this is a good bet.

I'm a professional trim carpenter. The chisel end is a little soft, but the full tang is great. For the price this is a must have. For tge price break, I was very impressed.
