Made from fine grey iron with all working surfaces accurately machined for precise results.
Two cutter positions for regular and bull nose work.
The cutter is adjustable for depth of cut in the rear position.
To accurately control dimensions of the rebate, an adjustable fence and depth gauge are supplied.
A cutting spur is also provided for cross grain work.
Cutter width 1. 1/2 - 38mm.

Product was a return or used. Damage to bottom of sole. Sole is concave so will need to lap a decent amount to fix. May look to replace

Giving this 5 stars, matching price and quality. If your expecting top quality maybe you should look somewhere else but as you can see this plane made a great rebate straight out of the box (that is red oak). Is it sharp? I guess enough. Is it formed perfect? No. But for the weekend hobbiest it's probably a perfect balance between price and quality. I will say this is pretty darn good! I do plan on sharpening and I do expect my next rebate to be easier and more crisp.

I initially gave it 3 stars because on first inspection it looked like it could be tuned up with a little work. Now I have returned it.The picture in the listing shows the one I expected to get (made in England). I received one made in China. I have a vintage one so that is what I compared it to.The one I received is a very poor copy. I don’t believe I got one from a bad batch, it is just cheaply made and poorly designed. Things I noticed: the cap iron is short and does not apply pressure close to the blade edge; the cap iron is very blunt and this would inhibit shaving ejection; the hole in the cap iron did not match the profile of the cap iron screw and it causes the cap iron to move up when tightened; the blade does not rest evenly on the bed at the top (not level with the mouth); the sole was at least 0.5-1mm hollow; the depth stop and fence were very crudely made.I wish I had taken heed of the other feedback before buying. Regardless of whether this could be made to work, I primarily returned it because I did not get was was shown in the listing. Buyer beware!

The plane I received today did not look like the image above. The marking on the plane body are different and box label says "Made in China". I'm not against things made in China but what I got was not up to the quality I thought I was buying, even at this price.The body was cast so poorly that when the blade is installed in line with the plane body as it should be, the left edge of the blade over-hangs the left side of the body by 1/8". If I force the blade flush to both sides of the plane, the poorly caste body forces the blade to an angle; not square to the sole of the plane. This renders the plane useless.I am returning the plane.

Fast delivery but package not sealed with any tape. The fence and the depth gauge was missing.The planer "nose" was broken (encl. photo).The Amazon page shows a Stanley Planer no. 078 made in England. The planer I received is a China made planer with poor finish. I have returned the planer and will try to find an old one instead.

I have receive the package well sealed. It arrived on time.However, the depth gauge was missing! The replacement will take a long time and the tax will cost a lot. Better quality control is required to ensure that the customer has received the right product. Apart from that missing part I am happy with the rebate plane.

Semelle bien finie et fer qui tient bien l'affûtage. Par contre le grain d'orge est massacré sur un des côté (ils feraient mieux de le laisser brut) et le guide ne sert à rien. Je ne regrette pas mon achat

arrived on time. came usable out of the box. I flattened the shoe and found it nicely and mildly cupped but pretty near perfect to the throat. A little prep and I was off and shaving. Wonderful tool.

This rebate plane works great after it was tuned up. The sole had to be flattened and the plane iron and cutter sharpened.
