1. Turn the STEAM DECK off
Turn off the power of STEAM DECK and unplug all cables before replacing the hard disk.
2. Remove the eight screws behind the STEAM DECK
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the eight screws that fix the back cover, four 9.5MM screws and four 5.8MM screws.
Replace the screws during the process to prevent loss.
3. Pry off the back cover
Along the edge of the right hand grip, insert a cocking piece into the thin gap between the back cover and the front case.
Pry up the back cover with the cocking piece to loosen the clips.
4. Remove the guard plate
Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the three screws that hold the guard plate in place, one 3.4 mm screw and two 3.7 mm screws.
5. Removing the SSD
Unscrew the screws securing the SSD with a Phillips screwdriver.
Pull out the hard disk after removing the fixing screws
6. Installation of heat sink
Tear off the protective film of the heat sink Put the thermal paste on the surface of the hard disk particles as shown in the picture.
7. Installation of SSD
Insert the SSD with the heatsink installed back into the slot and tighten the screws.
8. Install the protective cover
After installing the hard disk, put back the cover with the screw holes in the case.
9. Install the eight screws on the back of the STEAM DECK
Snap the back cover into the fuselage.
Install the body screws to fix the back cover installation is complete.
