Our Vintage-style Guitar Tuner Bushings are press-fit bushings for 1/4"-diameter string posts.
Made of high quality machined brass.
Straight-sided bushings: these are easier to install, and stay put better than tapered bushings. Straight-sided hex bushings are now standard on Waverly tuners.
Some guitars may require peghole modification. See our specs, below. For a perfect fit, we recommend a .393" diameter reamer to cut a clean, accurate counterbore.
Tip: If you are looking to retrofit tuners with 1/4"-diameter string posts into guitars equipped with larger enclosed Grover, Gotoh and Schaller machines, see our 3/8" Conversion Tuner Bushings (sold separately).
Specs for our straight-sided round bushings:
- Height: 0.340" (8.64mm)
- Outside diameter: 0.340" (8.64mm)
- Round collar diameter: 0.438" (11.13mm)
Sold as a set of 6 nickel bushings.

I have a 1956 Vega Odell Duo-Tron guitar that I inherited. It had been missing a few tuner bushings for quite some time, which had caused those peg holes to grow well beyond the 1/4" size of the tuner peg. The StewMac Vintage-style Guitar Tuner Bushings fit these worn holes nicely. I would have liked to have replaced the other bushings to match, but I am reluctant to ream out the holes just to make new bushings fit. In the picture, the new bushings are top and bottom, with an ?original? in the middle (I believe the octagonal bushings on the left are antique replacement bushings). StewMac has been great to work with... fast shipping, and easy return policy (as this wasn't my first attempt).
