You can get all colors without having to switch pencils so has very interesting effects. I love playing around with them!

The colors meet exactly in the center of the tip. Fits into a standard sharpener. These rainbow pencils appear to be made with quality materials and care. The husk of the pencils are a muted matte black, evenly distributed around the rainbow core. They really do provide rigidity to the pencils. The title/body of the listing describe the pencils as for adults in the title and then later as a kid pencil in the body. In reality, they could be both. A skilled artist could use the precision core to transition from color to color. A child can enjoy the multi colored strokes and learn to change the angle of the pencil to use only one color at a time. The cardboard tube they come in presents well and keeps them separate from other art supplies. For the current $7.99 price they feel like a good value. If for novelty alone, they are still a good/fun buy.

I use rainbow pencils a lot for coloring because I love the effect you can get. There are 12 pencils in this package and they're all the same. There is no variety in the color combinations. The lead is not very soft so it makes it difficult to get the "blendy" effect that I use pencils for. I'm probably going to give these to the grandkids. I wouldn't recommend these for anyone that has experience using coloring pencils.

- nice colors, they blend together really well as they are being used- lightweight pencil- easy to hold and turn/rotate in the hand- fun to play around with, trying to see what color combos come up and mixes- black wood case is very hard to score with fingernails which is good- takes a bit of practice to just get one color for a specific short need- yellow is very light and hard to see in bright light- not erasable
