I waited to long to buy this. Significant improvement in shower space and usability. One side was screwed into a stud (95% sure), and I used 6/32 jacknuts for the side that didn't have any backing behind the wall. Check out jack nuts for all your RV mounting needs... they're pretty handy.I don't think I would hang a lot of weight on this (like wet towels) but that's just because the jack nut mounting method (while great) isn't as solid as hitting a stud.The bar itself is metal and feels solid. I have a step from Stromberg Carlson and it's solid as well. Seems like a company that just does things right and not making disposable stuff.If you're on the fence (or cramped in your shower), get this. There is no downside.

This is a great product for what it is. It is a quality product and easy to install.But I have a corner shower stall so it was not a good fit in this situation.

Works to improve shoulder room in camper shower and reduces the yucky shower curtain body cling so common in these tight, small, camper showers. Ease of install of course depends entirely on the placement of what serves for wall studs in your camper. I had to locate the wall studs then span the studs with a well painted (4 coats) piece of 3/4'' x 4'' plywood on each end of the tub surround to have a solid sturdy mounting surface for the ends of the rod. A dozen showers and 3 thousand miles later it is holding up well.

We live in a 5th wheel and our shower is in hallway going to bathroom and bedroom. Small shower area and my husband is 6 ft tall so he was cramped. When I was looking for a curved rod to give him more room I realized that it would mean the hallway would be even more tight than it already was. Then I saw this one. Extends while you're in the shower for more elbow room but doesn't take up space in hallway when not in use. Went up easy and works great! These things should come standard in RV's. Perfect for any small bathroom. Love it!

We have an older motorhome, a 1997 Bounder and both my husband and I found that when we showered, the shower curtain was always getting in the way and would cling when we were trying to shower. This shower rod for RVs is a game changer. When it arrived my husband was a bit cross as I didn’t measure properly before ordering and our shower stall was a bit smaller than the recommended width. After reading one of the reviews my husband was able to shorten the centre rod a bit and now it fits perfectly. It expands and contracts as required. The shower curtain stays out at the top but in at the bottom to ensure no water spills when you are showering. I would recommend this to anyone who has a small shower/tub in their RV. I don’t think the pictures does it justice as I couldn’t get far enough away in the small bathroom space.

This is the shower rod for you if you are anything over 5’11”... it just is. I was reluctant to spend 35 dollars on a glorified bar to hold a curtain. I don’t need my things to be pretty. I need them to be functional and long lasting. This shower rod went above and beyond my expectations. The unit is solid. I’m pretty sure it’s all metal construction. There’s so slack in the vertical plane, so it doesn’t wobble up and down.. at all really. I’m 6ft and broad shoulders so I need something to give me space to turn and twist what have you. Again... you look at the thing and you think. Can moving the curtain top maybe half a foot or more really help... yes.. 5 star never been happier with 35 dollar purchase in my life. It’s like being in another shower. Order this unit. Shower regular, than install this unit. Morning shower to evening shower and your mind is blown at what this simple thing accomplishes. The feature to reverse the unit backwards helps maintain crucial space to utilize the bathroom utilities.It’s just great. I’m a proud owner. Hope this helps.

This is definitely one of the best purchases that I've made. This shower rod is very sturdy and installation was a breeze. It adds a lot more of much needed space in my tiny R.V. shower. I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking to add more elbow room to their shower.I always like to see when reviewers come back later after using an item for a while to give some type of update on whether or not the product has been useful to them. So I decided to do just that today. I recently left my review after I had just started using this shower rod but it has now been about 6 months since I've started using it and it is truly still one of the best purchases i've ever made. It's holding up very well and looks as if it has plenty more months and maybe even years of life left to it.

This item is FANTASTIC! It's made showing in the RV...well, enjoyable without uttering a string of four letter expletives aimed at the sticking shower curtain during your shower time! It installed easy, it's sturdy, it creates usable elbow room, and frankly it's a great idea that is super functional. Love it! Folds into the shower when not in use, and actually creates a bit more room in the toilet area. A little pricey, but it's made of metal, not plastic. Worth the price!

We recently moved up to a 18' travel trailer from our 20 year old pop-up and one of the features we were looking forward to was a shower and a bathroom. Being a larger guy, I was a bit disappointed in how tight the shower was, especially around the shoulder area as the curtain rubbed right up against me. I thought about getting one of those curved shower bars like in hotels but the ones I found were too long since they were designed for full size showers. A quick check on Amazon in the RV section brought me to the Stromber Carlson Extend-A-Shower. It was only a few bucks more than what I had seen at Home Depot but at least it would fit in the trailer. I was intrigued about the flexible curve as well.Amazon's delivery was as amazing as always (ordered on Sunday afternoon, had it Monday evening) and the installation was very easy with only a screwdriver and pilot drill. No cutting and very solid. The Extend-A-Shower is signficantly better built than the shower rod I took out and the bend in/out feature of the Extend-A-Shower is incredible! While getting all the room I needed in the shower, I also now have a similar amount of extra space in the bathroom since the shower curtain is fully out of the way when not in use. This is a "Run, don't Walk" product to get and every tight bathroom/shower should have one! Thanks again, Amazon!!!
