I got this handheld scanner to help my wife with her annual musical instrument inventory that she has to do for her elementary campus every year. All of the instruments are barcoded, there are hundreds of them, so it's a big task to do manually. This compact little reader is perfect for the job. It comes configured with defaults that are compatible with standard barcodes in the US, so there was very little that was needed to get it up and running out of the box. It paired easily with her iPad over Bluetooth using the barcodes in the instruction booklet (you have to consult the Contents page and go to p.13 for that, which was a little confusing at first as the booklet doesn't have the usual 'quick start' section up front). All of the configurations for the device are handled in this way, and it has a very wide range of capability for such a compact device. You have the option to use Bluetooth, a wireless USB-C nib/dongle, or even a wired connection with the included USB-A/C cable to connect it to your laptop/tablet as a regular keyboard interface device. The trigger button is comfortable and easy to use, and the beam reading width can handle a large range of small-to-large barcodes without difficulty. After playing around with it a bit, it was necessary to slow down the data transfer speeds to avoid some garbling when using it to input data into an Excel spreadsheet. Even with that adjustment, it's light-years ahead of doing it manually, both in terms of overall speed and increased accuracy. It recharges quickly via any 5V-capable USB-C cable and can go for hours on a single charge. It's a game changer in many ways and a great value for the price and capability you get with it.

Still trying to figure out how to scan all my books onto a book log. But the quality is really good. It's nice and sturdy. It definitely scans properly I just need to figure out how to keep the log. The instructor booklet is a bit complicated but I should figure it out soon. What I love is that it's not big and bulky like most scanners that people use.
