  • QUIET & RELIABLE: The Tetra Whisper Power Filter uses 3-stage filtration to create clear, clean water – PF 60 treats aquariums up to 60 gallons.
  • ABSORBS ODORS: Ultra-Activated carbon removes both odor and water discoloration.
  • CATCHES DEBRIS: Dense, dual-sided mesh filters debris and fish waste.
  • INNOVATIVE CLEANING POWER: Integrated Stay Clean technology reduces buildup on glass and binds small dirt particles to make them easier to filter.
  • CARTRIDGE REFILLS: Change cartridges monthly; uses large-sized Tetra Whisper Bio-Bag Cartridges (refills sold separately).

The Tetra® Whisper® Power Filter for aquariums offers quiet, 3-stage filtration for clean water and healthy fish. Dual-sided mesh catches debris and fish waste in its dense, fibrous network, then Ultra-Activated™ carbon provides chemical filtration by absorbing odors and discoloration. Biological filtration is provided by Bio-Foam®, which creates a large, three-dimensional area for cultivating aerobic bacteria, which eliminate toxic ammonia and nitrites. No moving parts means long-term reliability. Uses Stay Clean™ technology to help keep your aquarium clean, clear and healthy, reduce buildup on aquarium glass and bind small dirt particles to make them easier to filter. This filter uses easy-to-change Tetra Whisper Bio-Bag® Cartridges (size large), which trap particles floating in your aquarium. The Tetra Whisper Power Filter 60 treats aquariums up to 60 gallons (330 GPH). Since 1951, Tetra has developed the world’s most comprehensive body of fish food knowledge, and fishkeeping enthusiasts have looked to the brand for products and solutions that add ease and beauty to their home. Whether you're an experienced hobbyist or just starting out, Tetra has everything you need – from a large variety of quality fish food and innovative equipment to test kits and decor.

This hang-on-the-back aquarium filter is super quiet, easy to clean, and very reliable. If you use the filter cartridges, they are some of the most affordable filters on the market. If you ditch the replaceable filter cartridges for sponge and bio-rings (planted tanks), this filter is a powerhouse. With monthly cleanings of the sponges and intake tube, it keeps my 55 gal. crystal clear.I replaced the cartridges in my filter with blocks of sponge on the bottom and 2, 250 gm mesh bags of bio-rings on top of the sponges. I left in the front Tetra bio-sponges. With this setup, I never have to worry about ammonia or nitrite spikes and the sponges filter the particulates. I would highly recommend adding an intake filter. You can buy them custom made or just cut one out of some coarse filter sponge. This will keep the larger particles out of the impeller and adds more bio-filtration.The mechanical design of this filter is genius. It only has one moving part (the impeller). The electric motor never comes in contact with the water. There is a new trend of putting the motor into the water with HOB filters. It does not help much with sound and it introduces a new point of failure (water in the motor). The only real advantage for putting the motor in the water is if your filter loses power and has to restart. If you let your water level get too low, a filter like the Whisper 60 may not be able to restart. As long as you keep your tank topped off, this will never be a problem. I purchased this filter as an emergency backup for my tank, but I'm not sure I'll ever need it.

Filtra bastante bien aunque si es un poco ruidoso, tal vez al principio no, pero al pasar el tiempo se hace mas fuerte el ruido

Very good filter. Funny it's called "Whisper" when it is actually quite noisy. Really keeps my 55 gallon nice and clean though!

This filter needs to wear in before it is quiet. Loud at first but now it’s good. I have a 6 yr old Whisper 60 that is still running strong and virtually silent. I got a new tank and bought a new Whisper 60 filter because I really like my older one. This new model was loud at first! The propeller was rattling and clanking around. It was installed correctly but sounded horrible, especially when the water flow was turned all the way down. Whatever it was hitting wore the edges enough to where it’s not clanking around anymore and is much quieter. The more it ran, the quieter it became. I have no more issues with loudness and it’s working great. If you purchase one, just be patient and let it wear in a couple weeks. I read reviews where people modified the filter’s intake valve for it to be silent - at first I did play around with it and noticed if I lifted slightly up on the intake valve that the propeller is attached to, the rattling stopped; however I didn’t have the patience to make the adjustments to keep it in that position. My old one appears to have a tiny groove etched out of the propeller and decided to leave the new one alone to see what happened. It was quieter after the first 24 hours so I kept it running. I’m a couple weeks in now and it’s almost as silent as my older one and running great.

I've been using Whisper PFs for all my aquariums for over 20yrs and have never been disappointed by them. As with any filtration, you should always get a filter that's rated higher than what you need -- for example, if you have a 60 gallon aquarium, the filter's MINIMUM GPH (gallons per hour) rating should be no less than 80 GPH -- because all filters lose filtering capacity over time as media gets dirty and/or loses effectiveness. Aquariums housing particularly messy and/or big fish need filters that can turn the water volume over at least 3x per hour -- for example, a 60 gallon Goldfish aquarium needs a filter capable of no less than 180 GPH. It's for this reason that people have issues with filters not keep their aquariums clean.Whisper PFs are exceptional! Very well constructed and most are very quiet. The Whisper 60 is the biggest model and is also the noisiest of the bunch. They're not insufferable, though, but you can hear them working compared to their smaller cousins. Usually the noise is caused by impeller assemblies not being seated properly and/or air being trapped in the impeller compartment. Should ALWAYS add the impeller assembly into the motor housing after adding water to that compartment so air doesn't get trapped inside. The cover tends to rattled from the vibration generated by the motor, but putting a rock or something like that on top of it eliminates that issue. The Whisper 60 has a 2 compartment system which makes these filters extremely versatile! Using the filter pouches, you can add any media you want. I always keep one side stuffed with blue bonded media and sponge type media for beneficial bacterial to take on biological filtration which keeps the water crystal clear even with no chemical/mechanical media in use. The other compartment is used for chemical and mechanical filtration. Keep in mind that carbon by itself isn't 100% effective in keeping aquariums clean, so the carbon packets that come with the filter media for these filters isn't particularly useful -- especially since there is so little of it. I used PhosPure & Sea Gel and have also used Diamond Blend in the past for media. To sum up, these are excellent filters and pretty quiet when setup & maintained properly. I've had 5 of these 60's so far and never had an issue with them. I also have the Junior and 30 model in operation currently. My 300+ gallon planted Goldfish aquarium has two of these 60s keeping it crystal clean.
