Does solve the purpose, no leakage till now. Keeps the water crystal clear. I have had set up this in my 2 ft goldfish tank and I have around 6-7 goldfish, now an aquarium keeper knows what the the issue with keeping a complete goldfish tank. My fishes were dying before due to hvy ammonia and higher pH level in the water. After using this filter loaded with bio media my fishes are healthy and happy. Totally value for money. But I guess it's china product ( not sure ) so doubt on how long it will work without any issue, but still now there is absolutely no issue.

Sunsun canister are cheap and best.*I have been using sunsun 304b since 2016. And still there are no major issues*Few days back I set up an gold fish 3(L)*1.5(W)*2(H) feet tank and wanted to buy an canister filter for it. So I bought sunsun 302 filter.1. Built quality: Plastic but 100% leak proof.Note over the time if you open your filter top too many times or very frequently ( once or twice a month) then you may face leak issues. Generally I open the filter only during emergency like to add chemical filteration media(carbon). I prefer not to clean it or maybe once in a year. This all depends on how much and what you feed to your fishes. If you feed too much then you have to clean the filter more frequently. Just do little research on how much and what to feed to your fishes. That should reduce your mentaince (water change or filter cleaning).2. It has 3 trays where flow is bottom to top.a. botton one can be used for mechanical filter pads (sponges).Note: I prefer one medium and two fine pad. ( No black colour one it has carbon ).You can also use the same pads which comes with the filter by default. All three in the bottom tray.b. Center tray and top tray should be used for biological media.Note: use porous media ( lava rocks or ada bio rio or aquatic remedies x-pores etc)It can hold 1-1.25 kgs of media per tray. So this filter is good for ~ 200 liters of fresh water aquarium.c. You can use ceramic rings at the very bottom. Below the bottom tray this will collect most of the fish waste.Note: you might need to change this rings every 6 months for best results. Because ring pores gets filled with fish waste and it is then of no use.Select the best porous media for ultimate results.3. Filter power consumption: 14 watts at max speed. The filter should not be placed lower than 1.5 meter. So if you tank top hight is more then 1.5 m from ground(floor) level then you must put the filter on top of something.Note: 1000liter/hour of moter speed. For 200 liter tank it will circulate you tank water 5 times. Which is really good. Min requirement os 4 times an hour.** This also depends on what fish you have and how much crowded your tank is.4. Best part is its dead silent. Sunsun 304b still makes some sound but sunsun 302 is just amazing in turns sound proofing. Will update this review after 6 months if I face any issues.

I bought this to be a cheap filter for a 20 gallon planted tank. For the most part, it's not a bad filter for the price. I threw some ceramic rings in it and it did a perfectly serviceable job of keeping my water clear, although I never kept more than 6 Danio in the tank at once. Cleaning it is pretty easy, though I can definitely see how the latches could break. One of mine has popped off, but was easily snapped back on with no damage done. After cleaning the impeller, I did have an issue where the cover that held the impeller in place would spin back off once I restarted the filter. It took a few tries to get the cover to stay in place, but so far it's stayed together. Time will tell if that becomes an issue or not.The intake and spray bar are definitely flimsy, but once I wrestled them into place they've been fine. If you have a nice tank, you'd probably want to change them out, but the hoses and connectors so far haven't leaked or failed so I'm ok with it.It primes easily enough even without the button, though I refill it with water after cleaning (be careful doing this, it will probably spit water out when you put the top on). My flow is decent, no complaints here. The biggest problem with this filter - noise. I keep my tanks in my bedroom, and compared to my Eheim 2215, this thing makes a racket. It has a noticeable hum, which probably wouldn't be an issue in a less quiet area, but it's something to keep in mind.Overall, for the price, it's so far been a decent filter. It works for my purposes, though if noise is an issue or you have a really nice or large tank it might be worth putting out the money for something a little nicer.

This is my second filter of this brand. These SUNSUN filters are the absolute best value available, and make "high-end" filter setups for your tank achievable on a small budget. There is only one caveat to my recommendation - please read and understand:The black plastic tubing that comes with these filters does a terrible job of sealing. If your intake tube doesn't seal, it will suck a small amount of air, which will eventually form a larger bubble near the canister. Once the bubble is big enough, it will break free and go into the pump, stalling the pump for a few seconds until it clears itself. This is no cause for alarm, and the pump is functioning, although hearing the pump passing this air every minute or so gets annoying. The fix is fairly easy - you must glue the tubes together. There are two glues I recommend for this - Welder's cement (available on Amazon - it comes in a red tube), and Testor's model cement. Both of these glues contain Toluene, so you must glue your tubes together in a well-ventilated area, but the Toluene is what makes this work as it actually melts the two plastic pieces together, making for an airtight seal. Please do not be intimidated - this is much easier than it sounds. Let your bonded pieces dry for a day and you're all set!My two SUNSUN filters now have more than 2 years' constant run time on them and they are going strong and quiet. These are in large aquatic turtle tanks so their ability to handle messy pets is proven. The hose connection to the canister has a shutoff valve which makes removal and cleaning of the canister an easy, no-mess project. The internal filter media trays are compatible with pre-cut foams and industry standard filter media packs. In summary, with a little extra prep on your end, you can have a large-capacity canister filter that runs quietly and works great for less than half of what you'd pay in a pet store. These filters are an excellent value.

I had originally purchased this filter to have on hand as a cheap backup/active filter for a Quarantine Tank. Meaning, I would run this filter on my display tank and move it to a QT when needed, or in the event of failure of another filter, could act as a temporary replacement while I worked on servicing/replacement. I scoured the internet for a while before deciding to give this filter a try. For the plans I had, I decided this cheap alternative should be able handle such a medial task. Total price payed for this setup (+ additional filter media) came to $65 shipped to door. After unboxing, the filter was able to be assembled and installed in just over an hour, with little to no help from the instructions. For example, included in the Filter Management section, and I quote"Remove and replace tae [sic] plug ire [sic] the socket 3-4 times [sic] Gently shake the filter to remove remaining air"The included green vinyl hoses were very reminisce of those included with an Eheim; however, they very flimsy and thin in comparison. The inlet and outlet connections, referred to as 'curvy bars', are very thin as well, making the overall curvy bar/hose connections an unexpectedly difficult task. Each time I tried to slide the hose over the hose barbs, the curvy bars would start to bend and crimp. With a little bit of patience, some Vaseline and a lot of extra time, I was able to setup the filter without any additional hassles.Bought new, the HW-302 does not come with any filter media, besides a few thin pieces of biochemical cotton (filter floss). Knowing this ahead of time, I purchased SunSun branded filter media to help keep the overall costs low. Unexpectedly, priming the filter actually proved to be the easiest part of the total assembly with the availability of the large priming button, which feels solid and is easy to articulate.Pros-Large priming button-Similar in build to more expensive models-Extension tubes for intake (adjustable depth)-Size/Depth of filter baskets offer a larger footprint/surface area than most filters-Near silent operation-Overall CostCons-Included parts (inlet/outlet 'curvy bars', hoses) are very cheap and flimsy-Included instructions are minimal and apparently lost in translation-Water pressure is surprisingly low. Estimated at 150 gallons per hour rather than the stated 264 gallons per hourFor anyone who doesn't want to spend an arm and a leg on a high-end overpriced filter, I think SunSun has enough Pro's to get you up and running. With a little ingenuity and spare time, the intake/outlet pieces can be easily replaced or upgraded with higher quality parts, making this an overall satisfactory purchase.UPDATE:Changed to 5 starsThis filter has outperformed a Marineland C360 and a Fluval 306 within the time I had it. It is still running strong and I have ordered 3 more to run on my tanks.I ended up replacing the factory hoses and doing a DIY spray bar for the current filter, and it outperforms my expectations daily. We have been through 3 major power outages, a tank rupture and this thing has started back up like it is brand new every time.
