Softer multifilament wires would be better suited imho. Less prone to cracking while handling.New, Old stock, made in 2021, a clear transparent case would make the product seem more attractive and enable end user to visually inspect they have bought the real deal. Will end up gluing a magnet to be able to attach it/mount it next to a minisplit condenser unit.

When I had the opportunity to acquire this whole-home surge protector, I jumped at it because I was familiar with ABB as a power distribution equipment manufacturer for large-scale commercial systems, and I felt that it would likely be a quality product. My impression is that it is indeed a quality product, but it does come with some limitations that are common to products of this type. The first limitation is that it is designed to connect to one of the sides of the breaker panel. However, this can be complicated in a residential installation, as breaker panels are often recessed into the wall or surrounded by wood framing. These physical limitations need to be investigated before purchasing this type of surge suppressor. The second issue is that two unused breakers are necessary for this installation. I found it very odd that there is a claim in one of the listing photos that the installation is "quick and easy, without taking up breaker spaces." However, the instructions provided with the device, the instructions available for download from ABB, and the video accompanying the product listing all show the device connected directly to two breakers. While I am not a certified electrician, my understanding from installing a nearly identical product from another manufacturer is that these breakers must be dedicated to the surge suppressor and cannot be shared with another load. I've reduced the rating to four stars based on this contadictory statement in the listing. In summary, I have faith in the brand, having worked with their commercial products in the past. The product itself seems to be of the same type and quality as a similar one I've installed in my own home. I would recommend this product to those who will have it installed professionally, with a full understanding of the physical and electrical requirements of that installation.

We had a power line come down and arc on the ground for a while before the fuse blew on the pole. The result was a blackened surge protector on our refrigerator, a blown circuit board on the whole house dehumidifier, internally shorted tower fan, and a few other things. Bought this to put on the main panel. Our main panel is outside and this is rated for ouse outdoors. The light is easy to see so I know that it is still working.
