I needed to cut several 3/16" stopped grooves in a tray I built for a chess board that was used to hold the chess pieces and this little gadget was just what the doctor ordered. Using my Festool rails and a trim router equipped with a 3/16" bit I cut the grooves with precision in a very short time.It does seem a little pricey for what it is, but compared to buying a Festool router to use with their track it is remarkably inexpensive and since they make adaptors for almost every router it should work for just about everyone. What I really like about this tool is it physically connects the router to the rail so it is impossible to wander off of the cut line like it is when you just hold the router against a straight edge.It does not use the raised section of the rail where your track saw runs, but instead runs in the groove on the opposite side of the track. I discovered that on one of my tracks this groove was too narrow for the adaptor, but it worked fine on another track.

I used this on a Ridgid R86044 router with both powertech and makita tracks. It worked great on both tracks. There is the slightest amount of play, but i believe it to be necessary for it to slide well. Given the way it sits, the play could only cause a variation so slight as to not easily be measured, and definitely unable to be seen by the human eye. The screw holes lined up perfectly. I'd buy again in a heartbeat! FYI, my first task (shown in the pics) was to route a very shallow groove so that the stick-on measuring tape sits flush in my diy MFT table.Improvement possibility: since it slides inside the part of the track that frequently houses track joiners, you can't do a full ~8ft run. The joining hardware blocks the travel where the two tracks are joined. If the adapter straddled this area instead of sitting in it that could be avoided.

This made routing a dado more difficult than if I had used a board as a guide. I hooked it up to my track and it would not slide. It was all I could do to get it to move, which then became dangerous. The bottom that is supposed to slide on the track is roughed up and not smooth, causing the item to be totally useless. What a waste of money!
