You will get multiple trailer disconnect alarms that will pop up while towing. These Chinese knockoff go cheap on heat sinks and electronics

Much cheaper than OEM ford part, yet works the same.

Installed it in my 2018 F150 lariat and it works as it should! No programming needed. If you don’t program it it doesn’t show on the dash. If you don’t care save the money and don’t have the dealer program it!

Not sure why 'trailer-equipped' has everything but this switch. This works very well for me. Installation was very straight-forward and end result is very clean and appears to be OEM.The cost is much less than the dealer-supplied option, which really appears to be identical and with same look and feel and function. If your vehicle is equipped and ready for the installation, this is very simple. You can check ahead of time by checking the (many) youtube videos and making sure that the cable is already in place on the back of your dash. It will be "plugged in" to the back of the empty storage slot, which is about the right size for a wallet and not much else. One word of caution, after installing and connecting the trailer, I found that I was missing the required fuse, readily available at my corner auto parts store. Also, be aware that you will need a quality OBD2 interface and the Forscan utility application (no cost for temporary license) to enable the trailer brake controller. The vehicle will not detect this until the settings are configured. Watch the installation videos before you try to install this, downloading the license for the application can take 24 hours. If you have it up and running on your computer and any required fuses ahead of time, then installation is not complicated and can be done in an hour.

Don't waste your money. I figured I'd go with this since it was so much cheaper than the OEM.Had it professionally installed, it failed first use and filled the cab with an awful electrical burning smell. I purchased the OEM to replace it and the OEM one is working, unlike this piece of junk.Unfortunately, it is beyond the return window, don't make the mistake I made.

Same as some other reviews. Does not work. Will adjust gain put comes up as no trailer connected when you squeeze for the brakes. As a safety concern I could not use it and instead had a VERY expensive family holiday.

Would apply the breaks properly to the trailer however the display in the truck showed trailer disconnect. That message would get triggered randomly whenever the trailer was connected . Went to OEM and everything worked fine

Hooked up just fine and was programmed. Once hooked to a trailer, say no trailer connected and will no apply brakes. DO NOT BUY. Buy OEM and save the headache. Now I'm out of the money foe something that doesn't work as described.

Does everything you need a reliable brake controller to do. It's a perfect fit on my 2016 f150. You will need forscan to turn it on in your IPC and BCM if your truck did not come equiped with it. In some instances you will need a fuse for the fuse box position 49 under the hood. It's a 30 amp fuse.

Don’t waste your money. This product looks like an OEM part but won’t work like one. Paid to have a dealership program the brake controller and everything was said to work. Hook it up to a trailer, and it will only work when manually using the controller. Depressing the brake pedal does nothing. Then when you go to adjust the gain, or manually use the controller, trucks says “trailer disconnected”. This brake controller also will drain your battery.

2018 Ford F150. Install looked difficult, but after watching some videos installation was pretty easy. My Truck did have the missing 30 amp fuse that others were missing. Didn't have time to program before I needed to use the brake controller, but was surprised that it worked w/o the programming. Even shows when trailer is connected/disconnected. If it holds up then good deal.
