I like the concept and direct cause/effect (push peddle, get water). My dog loves this thing and often carries it around the yard as far as the hose will let him. I would change the water flow to that if a shower/sprinkler instead of on stream or maybe have a dial to change the steams like a shower head. I would also enjoy an “on switch” similar to that if a hose that allows the water to spray without pressure. One of my pups loves water but was afraid of the “sporadic water” when forced to step on it. The water pressure is not consistent regardless of weight applied. Overall it seemed durable enough and does the job on a hot day.

I started training our new puppy to use this when she was about 10 weeks old. It took some time for her to get used to it but now she is 5 months old and she uses it all of the time. To get her started I helped her to manually press the step with her paw. Then I would put treats on it so she had to step on it to get the treats. I had to turn the pressure down when she was younger as it would shoot too high into the air she couldn't get a drink. Now she pretty much bathes in the fountain. It provides her a lot of entertainment in addition to providing her fresh water. She is soaked after using it so everything else around her is, too. It is the first thing the puppy runs to when we go outside for some exercise. She runs to it multiple times per day to play in the water. I have wanted to buy one of these for years for our older dogs but didn't give it a try. I do have a 6 year old dog and she won't have anything to do with this. She prefers her bucket of water. We had a 12 year old dog that was unsteady on her legs and there is no way she could have used this in her physical state; she would have fallen down trying. The connection is tight so no leaking. I would prefer a little longer hose to get it further from the water source but this one will do for now. You can't put your own hose on it as the connection on the fountain is not a standard hose connection. You would need to put an additional hose between the water source and the house that connects to this fountain if you need to move it further from your hydrant/water source.I'm glad I bought it, it seems to be well made and should last for some time.

Bought this June of 2018. The fountain worked really well except for issues 1 and 2 below (though the plastic adapters are not worth a darn). It was not until issue 3 that I had to stop using it. While the valve is heavy-duty and solid brass, the piston has a problem.1. The front left corner of the step pad started to stick. This held the system in the on position until I manually closed it. I simply pulled the corner out a fraction with a pliers. Problem solved.2. A few months ago the white paint began to flake off. This has allowed rust to form here and there. If we keep using it, i’ll Need to sand the rust off and repaint. I see this as being an ongoing issue that will just come back.3. The last issue is the most serious one. Recently the valve began to stick open again but not due to problem 1. Now the valve itself sticks. Specifically the little brass piston (that gets depressed by the metal step) gets stuck in the down position. If we are not home, well the water will just run and run. I noticed ‘gunk’ had formed on top of the piston. Anyway, I took the valve apart to clean it. The internal O-ring looked to be fine and after a thorough wipe-down I put it back together. It worked fine for a short but it’s sticking again. No gunk, it just sticks. I can’t trust it so the fountain is now disconnected.I plan to reach out to the manufacturer to discuss the issue.
