Loving these. I process a lot of goods (of various sorts) on our homestead in OH and using these cutters is proving to be a breeze when trimming off the excess strapping after my strapping binder/tensioner does it's job. These cutters slice through every width and thickness of strapping I have on hand with ease, likely due to the intense jaws which do not flex at all, yet actuate smoothly and the long handles, which provide more than sufficient leverage to get the job done. Recommended.

Haven't used it on steel strapping but it cuts through poly strapping with no problem at all. The red dipped grips were a bit dirty out of the packaging.

This UpJia Flarish brand (stupid name - sounds like a disease) strapping cutter is made to cut steel. My Dad was a sheet metal mechanic and I played with his tools when I was a kid. I learned early on that sheet metal shears are not like scissors, and are not made to cut other things, like paper or plastic. These strapping cutters are extremely well made, with an excellent finish. There are no rough edges, or anything to criticize, and they function properly and well.My only issue is with the name. No one is going to brag about his UpJiaFlarish Strapping Cutter, because his friends will laugh at him. Even the maker of the tool wasn't proud enough of the name to put it on the tool. It's not something to deduct a star for, but I wish tool makers selling to North America would put a little more thought into the names they give their tools.

My expectations for heavy tools are always a little tempered when I buy online, and especially from a non-tool specialist. Amazon has been slowly changing that perception for me, and these cutters are one of the reasons why.I ordered them because my tin snips weren't getting the job done for metal packing straps, and the pair of cutters I got from a big-box retailer weren't faring much better. I gave these a shot, and I'm glad I did.They're built a lot heavier than I expected them to be, and while I did have a little trouble actually shoving the lower blade up under a tightly fastened strap, once I was in, the cut was easy-peasy. I'm properly impressed with these.

WOW - this strapping cutter is seriously heavy-duty and built to last. The chrome-vanadium steel construction feels incredibly solid in your hands, and it cuts through light steel like butter. Maybe the pair I received are defective - they wouldn't even begin to cut PET strapping - even that which is thinner that 0.05" in thickness. I very well can't recommend a tool that only "dents" PET strapping.

I dont know if its me or this cutter itself but I could only use this to make the first inch or so cut. After that it will get stuck and not move forward. I was planning on using for the custom duct work I needed dont but ended up buying another one that could continue cutting and not get stuck
