This shank has problems, but wasn't worth the trouble of returning, as it is still usable with some tinkering.1. The hex end is undersized, doesn't go in tightly enough (confirmed by trying with two different drills and a screwdriver). This of course causes the chuck and bit to wobble. However, given the comparatively low price (for Amazon), you may still consider getting this shank, as the problem may be helped by stretch wrapping a little cling wrap around the hex, and then pressing it in for a tighter fit.2. Despite what photo #2 shows, the bolt cannot be driven all the way down so that the bolt head lays flat at the chuck end. This means that in a hammer action a bit cannot be inserted all the way down into the chuck for better stability. However, you may have a shorter bolt of your own that would do the trick. Can't be bothered with that sort of tinkering? Then better give this shank a miss.

This worked perfect on an old makita drill chuck i had laying around. Hoping it comes in handy for adapting a hole saw to my right angle driver to drill larger holes through fire blocks for AV work.

I used the adapter for a 1/4" Jacobs chuck and had to grind down the head of the locking screw to get it past the chuck jaws fully opened.Works well and I still rated it 5 stars because it is really overkill for my use but I prefer impact quality tool bits--probably not meant for small chuck.

This is the only time I've ever been slightly disappointed by an Uxcell product. The black oxide finish was bone dry and there was slight surface rust. Cosmetically this matches the old drill chuck I bought it for, so I'm not too worried about it.

Been cleaning out old tools. If I couldn’t repair them they needed to go. Been removing the chucks and cleaning them up off the drills I couldn’t repair. Some of these chucks are $80-100+ dollars today. Made in USA. PS: Jacobs no longer made in US. So there worth salvaging. Gives them a second life. And work great in your impact drills.

I've been looking at the keyed chuck version of these but I always figured the chuck was some cheap knockoff and I wasn't willing to shell out 15 bucks for one. Then I saw this and I was able to use a real american made keyed Jacobs chuck i had in my junk draw and turn it into a useful tool. Now I can use round shank drills without the slippage that often occurs in keyless chucks and I can also use this in my 1/4" impact driver.
