I am using the bar of HSS to make custom shaped bits for my Sorby hollowmaster and other homemade lathe hollowing tools. The bar is easily cut with a Dremel abrasive cutoff wheel and shaped and sharpened on the grinder. The three bits I have made so far take a sharp edge, and the edge seems to last at least as long as the expensive Sorby bits. Easily resharpened with the Sorby sharpening fixture.

I ordered this to make a tool to turn wood with. It works exactly as I expected. My only complain, and it is probably my fault for not noticing, but this ships from China, so the expected 2-day Prime delivery was actually a 2-week wait. Still a good product though.
