I did a fairly steep mountain hike in’em where the trail was compact ice most of the trail to test’em out and they worked absolutely great. I think the incline I tested mine in was about as steep as you’d want to go in these. I do want to invest in the larger pair of Vargo spikes now and see.But these stayed in place rock solidly after putting them on and kept me upright in some sketchy spots on the trail.

I’d hesitate to guarantee these’ll keep you safe but they worked for us during 2 weeks of traversing small steep patches of snow. Obviously will never be as effective as full crampons but they are a fraction of the weight. Easy to put on and off. When going up I found best to move them forward until under the ball of foot; when going across then best on the arch. One came off accidentally once - so need to be pulled up tight.

This was great. I bought these “just in case” on my transverse in big bend. Went right after a snow fall. These worked great and gave me the confidence I needed on the icy trail. Would recommend for use!!!

, these will be handy when there's depth of snow or ice won't be real Handy just on black ice like you encounter in parking lots as the are larger/deeper then I had expected. I will keep them in my truck for those day outings when there is snow or ice to contend with
