Yesss. These sticks are fantastic. They bring out the tone of cymbals and drums without effort. Presumably the low density of the sugar maple is the magic, but somehow they can sound “big” when they are a light weight. I’m using them in folk, rock, and jazz applications. They will break, sure… but they’re my new favorite.

I've played Vater since I discovered the "Goodwood" sticks. They were essentially 5A Los Angeles seconds. But there was nothing wrong with any pair I bought. Straight, good grain, perfect, light lacquer finish on every stick. I got he 12-pair packs at a great bargain. I was playing in an unnecessarily loud band. I still use them in higher volume situations.I now playing at a responsible volume, and these Super Jazz sticks are awesome. Perfect diameter, weight and a silly quarter-inch longer that normal. Vater Rocks. What's good for me likely isn't good for you, but these are MY sticks!

Classic conundrum: Drumsticks for low volume applications, such as church praise band. Most jazz sticks in hickory measure somewhere around 1/2" in diameter. Very often, there is too much volume, and too much tone, and too much 'ping' definition, especially on the larger diameter ride cymbals. Sure, nylon brushes are a great deal softer, but one can only drive a brush for so long before you wind up with sore hands."Hey diddle-diddle, let's meet in the middle."Rute sticks provided a comfortable middle ground between sticks and brushes but cannot be used in the cross-sticking position on a snare drum and produce absolutely zero tone on a closed hi-hat. And, for many rock drummers, they tend to break apart easily.Hopefully, we have found an answer. These Vater Wood Tip Sugar Maple Jazz drumsticks measure slightly over 1/2" in diameter, and they have a conventional oval shaped tip. If you are accustomed to playing on conventional hickory drumsticks, this may come as a shock, because these sticks are so lightweight, it is as though there is nothing there. Takes a little getting used to. However, this lack of mass in the stick means LESS volume, LESS tone and LESS ping definition.Sometimes, less is more!

I use lots of different sticks, but the Vater Super Jazz maple sticks are my favorite when I want to get great stick definition and tone out of darker ride cymbals. These are also great for light jazz and soft pop/country.I would not recommend these for hard hitters. Vater makes a Super Jazz hickory model if you really like the dimensions of these sticks. Maple is not a hard enough would for heavy drumming, but the hickory sticks will do great.

There no much to say, these are my favorite drumsticks. Very comfortable to play and responsive. I can play for hours and not get tired or hurt my hands cause this drumsticks are so light and fit so well in my hands.

I am only giving these sticks 1 star because I can’t give them 0. We bought 3 sets and now have 3 broken sticks. All 3 sticks broke within 10 minutes of use. Basically, it’s like burning money. Do NOT waste your money like we did. Look somewhere else.

Great balance, sweet cymbal tone, and overall a really nice lighter weight version of the maple Super Jazz for lower volume situations. For me, I love having a little bit of heft in a stick that plays lightly and this fits the bill.

I bought these as a gift for a friend, and he absolutely loved them...until they broke. It had only been a week. But he plays very hard and frequently so it's understandable. I own a pair of the sugar maple sticks and I've had them for a few months now and they're still in decent shape. Even if you're hard on you're sticks you should give these a try.

I bought these to help me play quieter, they feel really nice and haven't snapped yet. Very light and we'll balanced. The sound is different to my regular hickory 5A but it noticeably brought the volume down.
