Used this with phones to video youngest daughter's first camping and hunting trip. This little camera kicks butt. The audio quality is poor for the outdoors, but that night vision has a pretty slick quality built in IR. When using the camera to connect to computer, editing, download, and even just viewing was an absolute plus. Very easy to use... I watched a 2nd grader film, edit, and view her own trip. Recommended as a solid buy!!!! Especially for the price.

I've had a few handy cams over the years and all of them worked well but were a little complicated. This little camera is simple to use and comfortable to hold. The package is complete for what you need and the price is a great deal.

I purchased this camera for a science experiment. I'm a scientist studying animal behavior and I needed this camera to record nocturnal animals for 2hrs/night. I set up the camera on night vision on a tripod, hit record, and let it run for 2 hrs.The SD card had 4 videos about 13 minutes long each. Ok, I assumed that waas just how the camera packaged the videos. However, when I watch the videos, the recordings are great for the first 6:55 of each video and then the video freezes for the remaining 5 minutes.I don't see anywhere in the manual or in the reviews where it has a time-out on recording time. I have a 256GB SD card in the camera, I don't have to stop/start the recording, the camera just stops recording at 13ish minutes, creates a file, and starts another video. Not sure what to do about this, but I never thought that THIS would be an issue. I figured as long as I had a large enough SD card everything would record. Definitely kicking myself right now, but not sure how I would have known this would be an issue. I'll definitely know better next time.

I have a VERY similar camera to this one so I'm pretty familiar with this style. This cameras main area of function that sets it apart is it's night vision feature. It can shoot video or still shots in practically no light. It has a pretty impressive infrared light built in that you can toggle on or off. The night mode is strictly grey scale images and video. What's impressive is not only does it capture very well in zero light, it has several over adjustments that can be made to increase the brightness of your shots BEFORE toggling on the night vision feature. Some of it's special features are: anti-shake stabilizing, auto-timer, beauty face (soothes and softens skin tone), sharpening, auto smile detection (takes photo when subject smiles), several effects can also be applied including: negative, sepia, a variety of color filters, extreme exposure (another brightening adjustment), several presets modes such as beach, sports, dog eyes, etc. It does have some limited internal memory for still shots but you will need to supply your own SD card for storing videos and higher volume still shots. This camera accepts Full SD cards or SDHC cards up to 128gb. You can also use a micro sd card that's placed inside an SD adapter. The camera comes with two batteries and a charging cord and power adapter 5v 1amp. You can charge a battery while it's inside the camera with either the adapter or through a computer usb port. You can purchase external battery chargers for the batteries too, but they might be a little tricky to find. It also comes with a mini micro usb cord (these are not very common) with an AV/component output to hook the camera up to your tv to display the feed or view the pics. The camera saves all still shots in jpg format and all video in .avi format. You can view the sd card and internal memory files either by connecting the camera to your computer via the usb cable, or by connecting the sd card to your computer or your cell phone. The files are not encrypted or encoded so they can pretty much be viewed by any device. The cameras microphone is pretty small, and located on the side of the camera after opening the viewing screen. It's not high quality so don't expect stereo quality audio recordings, but fine for home videos, quiet environments but not concerts or live shows. There is unfortunately not an input for connecting an external microphone. You can also play back and do basic editing of pics on the camera itself. Including locking files to keep them from being deleted by accident. The manual is easy to understand, and offers a somewhat limited 1 year warranty for defects or failures excluding acts of god, misuse, etc. It comes with a small carrying case that slides onto a waist belt. The camera is made for small hands yes. Most buttons can be easily reached by even the smallest of hands when holding the camera with your right hand through the adjustable side strap/handle. EXCEPT the mode button and the video record button. Both of those are hard for me to reach at times. The primary buttons you will be using can all be controlled with just your right hand. But this camera is not totally a one handed camera. You will need to use your left hand to: turn on/off night vision mode, use the playback button, power on and off the camera and accept the menu and features section and changing the screen display modes from onscreen icons showing, no onscreen icons showing and turning the LCD display screen off. The one thing this camera should have but doesn't, is a lens cover. So be extra careful not to drop or scratch the lens and keep it in the canvas case when not in use. The remote control can control pretty much all the features of the camera. You simply need to make sure the remote is aimed directly at the camera's front lens and have the display screen turned 180 degrees facing out, unless the camera is connected and displaying on your tv or computer. Overall, it's a great camera, with good resolution, good features, a decent battery life, and really great night vision. The price is excellent, for a camera with such good night vision. The range of the night vision is going to be heavily influenced by the amount of light available in your environment. In a total black out environment, your range may only be several feet depending on the subject. But a little secret I can share is that you can buy a small handheld infrared flashlight (sometimes known as darkwave flashlights) for a few bucks and shine that towards your subject and you shoot true zero light images with amazing clarity up to several hundred feet or more. They emit no visible light to the human eye only a fait red dot in the eye of the flashlight yet will illuminate the entire area for your shots and videos. Major thumbs up to this camera. Great all the way around.

I have two young kids, and of course they spend tons of time watching YouTube videos on the computer and their tablets. And, of course, they want to try making their own videos too. While I own a camcorder, several "action cams", and my phone, I'm reluctant to give these items to an eight-year-old and a five-year-old and let them run free with my expensive gear. I decided to grab this camcorder, and if disaster happened it wouldn't be the end of the world. The camcorder is actually nicer than I expected for the money - build quality seems good, screen is decent, lens is ok - I work in video production and it feels pretty much the same as any other compact camcorder from the past twenty years. They give you a decent amount of accessories with the camera - I was pleasantly surprised that it came with an extra battery, although since the battery charges inside the camcorder a separate charging cradle would have been nice, so I could have one charging while the camera was in use. At this price that's really splitting hairs, though. No SD card is included, but like most households I have a ton of them floating around, and this camera gives me an excuse to collect all the smaller 4GB & 8GB cards that aren't getting used and pawn them off on my kids.I gave the kids the camera and let them loose. They shot videos in the yard, at their friends house, etc. Then brought the camera back and wanted to see what they'd shot. I hooked it up to the computer and it mounted the SD card as a drive. Some of the videos wouldn't open with Windows Media Player, but opened fine in VLC. I haven't tried importing the clips into an editing program yet, because honestly, the kids are happy enough to shoot stuff and watch it on the screen or the computer. This camcorder served that purpose just fine.
