I ordered this because I have some records that I'd like to enjoy again after a long hiatus due to parenting and other middle-aged-adult responsibilities. As I started pulling LPs out of the old box where they been living in a storage/pet area, I noticed they have become thoroughly encrusted with dust. This kit is the perfect solution for refreshing each record as I pull it out again for the first time in a long time. The wood components seem of good quality, as do the various brushes. There are some very basic instructions for use on the bottle of cleaning solution, which addressed both my deep cleaning needs and routine cleaning. It's not the cheapest kit of its kind available on Amazon, but it's certainly not the most expensive, either, so I think it's a good value overall. Happy listening!

In my younger days, I amassed a large collection of vinyl LPs. For reasons that I don’t fully understand, I didn’t give them away, sell them, or throw them out. So, I still have my collection and vinyl LPs are now coming back very much into vogue. I set up a HiFi system using mainly my old HiFi components that had been stored away in boxes. I was blown away by the sound and it brought back happy memories of my mis-spent youth. However, I was quickly reminded about the major disadvantage of playing vinyl records – clicks and crackles from dust and scratches. I can’t do much about the scratches but a good cleaning kit like this one from the Hamilton Max Store can do a great job in managing dust and dirt accumulating on records. The product comprises several tools for cleaning up LPs. There’s a wide bristle brush for removing the dust from the surface. A velvet brush which is used with a spray-on cleaning fluid removes the entrenched dust from within the grooves. The cleaning fluid container also has a microfiber cloth stored in its lid – to further help with cleaning. There’s even a silicone disk to put over the LP label to stop it from getting marked during the cleaning process. Once cleaned, an anti-static cloth is provided to remove static charge from the record surface – which can also lead to crackles and will attract further dust. Finally, a small soft brush is provided to clean dirt and dust from off the stylus – this, of course, must be used very carefully. This kit is offered at a premium price, but the quality of the parts is very high. I like the use of real mahogany to make these brushes rather plastic (assuming that a rainforest wasn’t chopped down to get this wood). I understand that the goat hair used in these brushes is the best for cleaning LPs - soft and non-static. It’s a good kit and well-made and should last me and my LPs a long time.

I joined in on the CD bandwagon back in the 1980’s but when the renewed interest in vinyl began its resurgence in the late 2000’s, I resisted, I’ll tell you what. However, just recently I’ve taken the plunge and bought another record player (I have no idea where my old one went). My record collection has been kept safe and sound indoors in a dedicated bookcase. But even so, they still needed to be cleaned up so I ordered this Vinyl Survival Premium 6-in-1 vinyl Record Cleaning Kit. I liked this kit because it gives you a fine goat hair brush versus those carbon fiber brushes in a lot of other kits. Carbon fiber brushes are good, but the primary con of the that type of brush is that it can only be used for dry cleaning. Goat hair brushes can actually be used for both dry or wet cleaning. Although, if you do use it for wet cleaning, it’ll need time to dry after consecutive cleaning jobs involving liquid. Also, goat hair brushes are statically neutral, meaning they neither form nor remove static charges. This kit even comes with something called a record label protector that does just as its name implies, it protects those paper labels while you perform the wet cleaning step. Since the kit comes with anti-static velvet brush for the wet cleaning stage, so you can actually use the goat hair brush just for the dry cleaning step. Like most other kits, this one includes a nice stylus brush. And as should be the case, the cleaning fluid provided is alcohol free.As soon as the kit was delivered, I couldn’t wait to try out the cleaning kit on an old James Bond Thunderball album I picked up at a garage sale. That thing was filthy. The goat hair brush did catch most of the dust, however, it did did leave some at the spot when I lifted the brush off the record. That had to be picked up in the next step, where you squirt the cleaning fluid on the record and use the soft velvet brush. Considering how dirty the record was, it did a pretty good job. At least it’s playable now. Will my record collection sound as awesome as I remembered? Maybe not, as I probably wore out those albums back in the day. But I’m hoping the nostalgia that playing my old vinyl brings will more than make up the difference.

More than anything, the brush and solution have been the most useful to me, since my room gathers an abnormal amount of dust. I have been using this kit for a while and I have noticed a difference from just leaving my records "unclean".Overall, I'd recommend it if you're just getting into the hobby.

This is the cheapest you’re going to find a goat hair brush, felt pad, and goat hair stylus brush in one unit. Don’t particularly care about the cleaning fluid I just wanted the brushes and felt pad.

I've been getting back into vinyl recently. My records are dusty and I could immediately tell it was affecting the sound quality. Playback even with a nice, new stylus sounded mildly distorted on the upper end especially. After cleaning, they sound infinitely better. Most of the time, I'll just use the brush and that's enough to get most of the crud out of the grooves with a couple passes.
