About this item

  • 7 ADJUSTABLE SENSITIVITY - The VIVOHOME Freon leak detector comes with 7 adjustable sensitivity levels to ensure efficient and targeted leak detection; It has a maximum sensitivity of up to 0.21 oz/yr, which is sufficient for self-checking auto AC, air conditioning, and other systems; The real-time sensitivity automatically adjusts to the best detecting state, adapting to new concentrations from low to high
  • VISUAL & AUDIBLE ALERTS - The leak detector comes with both audible and visual indicators to help you easily detect any gas leaks; It emits 2 beeps per second when open, and the beeping frequency is up to 10 times per second when detecting the gas leakage; The light flashes increasingly when a leakage is detected; The LED light is normally green, indicating that the battery voltage is normal and suitable for continuous detection; If the LED light turns orange, it means the battery voltage is close to the limit and should be replaced immediately
  • RELIABLE DETECTION - The VIVOHOME refrigerant leak detector has a 6-second preheating and 3-second response time for rapid leakage identification, ensuring safe and reliable refrigeration system operation; The 7.9-inch flexible probe can reach almost any awkward corners or space for more accurate detection; The leak detector comes with a 2-in-1 pen flashlight; The UV light works with the fluorescent agent to quickly locate the leakage point, while the white light can illuminate dark places; Note: It is recommended to turn on the leak detector and wait for 6 seconds away from the potential leakage area
  • USER FRIENDLY - The VIVOHOME leak detector can detect refrigerant gases easily; First, install 4*AAA batteries to the battery compartment; Then turn on the detector and wait for 6 seconds until it beeps; Adjust sensitivity among 1-7 levels according to your needs; Once a leak is detected, a regular beep will change to a rapid beep, and the indicator lights will flash more rapidly; After use, turn the knob counterclockwise to turn it off; Note: 4*AAA batteries are not included in the package
  • WIDELY USED - The VIVOHOME leak detector is capable of detecting leaks in a variety of refrigerants, including R11, R22, R134a, R404a, R1234yf, SF6, and all halogenated refrigerants, including HFCs, CFCs, HCFCs, HFOs, and blends; It can be used to locate leaks in air conditioning systems, refrigeration units, and other equipment that utilize Freon or similar refrigerants; The device assists in the identification and repair of leaks, thereby ensuring the efficient operation of the equipment

Moisture will set off the alarm. So if you go from a cool house into the attic there will be some condensation that forms in the tip and it will trigger it when you turn it on. Getting too close to the evaporator that has condensation on it will set it off. Simply touching it against a piece of wood set it off.But I can deal with that. Just wait before turning it on in the attic and be careful around moisture. What I can't deal with is that the sensitivity dial is very unclear. I think 7 is the highest sensitivity but it signals constantly even in fresh out door air. There is something in the manual about how the chip takes a reading in the 6 second start up that will analyse the baseline of what's in the ambient air, like naturally occurring halogens, and then ignore that reading. So any amount over that baseline will set it off. Sounds awesome, but I spent a lot of time fussing with the dial, turning on in a fresh air environment then moving to where I wanted to check but I could not get repeatable alarms. Meaning I could not duplicate an alarm over and over so that I can be sure it wasn't a false positive. It seems that given to the sensitivity to moisture I just can't trust the readings especially because they are inconsistent. I may be using it wrongly but I read the manual twice and can't say that it is very explicit about how to use it.

This device appears to work as intended. To test, I dispensed a tiny amount of R410A with UV dye onto a piece of plastic. When the sniffer came within a few centimeters of the refrigerant it began to rapidly beep and flash its LED. In addition, the UV dye glowed brightly under the detector's UV lamp.I do have a couple of small problems with the device, though.- While turned on, it beeps and flashes its LED twice per second, presumably to let you know it has battery power. The constant beeping is annoying.- Occasionally I would get a false positive detection when the sniffer was nowhere near any refrigerant. Sometimes I would have to turn the unit off and back on in order to reset it. Adjusting sensitivity did not help eliminate these false positives.

I got this because my HVAC has a small leak, and I wanted to try to pinpoint its location. It is straightforward to use, and I found the leak in the shredder valve on my unit. So, now I was ready to deal with the HVAC company when they showed up to repair the leak.

VIVOHOME HVAC Refrigerant Freon Leak Detector with LED Light, AC Sniffer Leak Detector for R134a R410a R1234yf CFCs HCFCs HFCs HFOsWorks very good, didn't take any time at all to find the leak!! This made it much faster & easier to fix!! Had a detector a few years back, did not work nearly this good. Would recommend this, not that pricey, fix one leak and it has paid for itself.
