The Watts 800M4-QT 1” Bronze Anti-Siphon Pressure Vacuum Breaker helps prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage. It consists of bronze body construction, silicone rubber check valve disc, plastic check valve seat, stainless steel springs, a bonnet with silicone rubber O-ring seal, a lightweight plastic disc float, tee handle shutoffs, and test cocks for winterization draining. The resilient sealing float o-ring and seal check disc are silicone rubber which is resistant to heat, shock and chemical attack. It is ideal in health hazard continuous pressure applications such as irrigation systems and industrial process water systems where the water enters the equipment at or below its flood rim. The maximum pressure is 150 psi (10.3 bar) and the minimum pressure is 15 psi (55kPa). From the manufacturer: This valve is for use in health hazard cross connections and continuous pressure applications.

My initial inground sprinkler system worked well for 6-years. I started hearing loud bangs each time a different zone started. I looked at the water valves, added water hammer arresters, and water pressure. It turned out the top black cap on the old backflow preventer. I thought I needed a rebuild kit before I removed it and examined it. The parts were $100 and a whole new unit was not much more, so I ordered the replacement unit. After removing the old unit, I noticed the screw-on black cap was very loose. I kept the new unit as a backup. Great design.

What do you say about this? It does exactly what it designed to do. Need some plumbing skills to be able to attach the pipes. You should know you county code for height etc. If you need to replace one it worked out great for me.

First, the product. I haven't gone through a winter yet, but I'm fairly certain that if I winterize it like you should anyway, it'll be fine. It is made of durable thick metal, feels very heavy and sturdy. All parts are very tight fitting. It was also water tested before delivery, so I like the fact that there was quality control to make sure it didn't leak. I wasn't a fan that the two valve sections were pre-assembled on to the PVB middle unit, because it was backwards for my need (i needed the exit to go right, not left, facing left, the levers are behind it facing a wall), but, for most, this will just save a step and provide less chances for leaks. For me, it provided an extra step, so minor inconvenience.I would give this thing five stars, however, two minor faults. First, the directions are HORRIBLE! LOL, if you don't have some minor "do it yourself" ability this might prove to be too challenging for you. Go to youtube, you'll find good videos on how to install this, the paper is near worthless. Second, I found it for a similar price at home depot a few weeks later. I know, maybe that isn't reason enough to deduct one star, but, typically, I expect better prices from Amazon and vendors than from physical stores. The only convenience with purchasing it from here was I didn't need to get off the couch to buy it. So, with each of these, I took off half a star, so one whole star total. For five stars, I expect an awesome product and an awesome price.Overall, happy with the purchase, would buy from them again.Update: 4/4/13: It made it through the winter, I turned the sprinkler back on and it works without any leaks or cracks that some cheaper ones get from winter freezes. Good purchase.
