You need these for your heavy sets on pull-day! Over the decades, I've tried various weightlifting straps. They were functional but nothing to get excited about. Last year I discovered hooks. They won't replace everything straps can do. But, they really excel on any pull with a straight bar. Straps don't even come close. My old hooks got me through the heaviest sets where my grip was the limiting factor. My "best friends" on deadlifts, farmers' carry, and shrugs. Alas, I left my friends at the gym and someone else took them home. Now, I'm glad because these AmStaff hooks are even better! That neoprene cushion on the AmStaff is awesome! It allows you to snug these things tight without the nylon cutting into your wrists. It was such a psychological boost to not be distracted with finger, callus, or wrist pain. Don't let those no-assist purists drag you into their cult. For most of us, the limiting factor on our heaviest sets will be grip. You'll have to take that weak link out of the equation to really overload your larger muscles. I only use them on the last couple sets. You probably need to know who's opinion you're reading. I have about 40 years experience in the gym but have never gone super heavy. My last set today on RDLs was 295lbs x 10. You may also want to know that my high school daughter tried them today on RDLs. I couldn't believe the smile on her face. She was amazed because finger strength has been drastically limiting her. She has tiny wrists, so these barely sinch down tight enough for her. But, they worked well enough that next time my hooks disappear, I'll know exactly who stole them.My review is summed up in one picture...Review of: AmStaff Weight Lifting Hooks around $18

Great straps. Help out when you have tennis elbow and still want to do pull ups

These straps are perfect for heavy lifts. They have thick, heavy straps with good velcro that wrap around your wrists. They are also very well padded, which is a huge plus when pulling a lot of weight. The brackets themselves are thick steel that are coated with a textured rubberized finish to protect your bar. Theyre very beefy and impressive. I used them just today for trap bar shrugs, as well as single arm lat pulldowns. They performed very well. Know that these take much more of the weight than a regular strap, given the thick steel. You can grip around the brackets, as I tried at the beginning of my sets. I then loosened my grip towards the middle and end, transferring more weight to my wrists as I went on. Its a little getting used to, as normal straps or even Versagrips keep your fingers "on the bar". With these you could literally leave your hand completely open and the steel/strap combo will take all the weight. Definitely a great product for heavy weights when your grip is a limiting factor. Absolutely recommend!

I don't usually leave reviews, but this product is amazing. Way better than any straps out there. Definitely worth it.

These lifting hooks attach to weights really well and make it easy to lift without relying on your grip strength. They're especially useful if you're trying to push for a personal record and your grip is the only thing holding you back – think heavy deadlifts. The hook holds the weight securely, taking the strain off your hands, and letting you focus on the lift itself.Where I found them especially useful is in smaller, limited gyms like my apartment's setup that only carries up to 50 lbs dumbbells. With these hooks, I can hold a 50 in each hand while hooking on an additional dumbbell to increase the load for heavy lifts. It’s a workaround I found for gyms with limited equipment. Just make sure that your wrists are stable and well-positioned when attempting to use it in this manner. This leads to an important note: you shouldn’t rely solely on your wrists to carry all the weight. Without proper wrist alignment and support, you risk developing poor form and potentially causing injury over time. These hooks are a great aid, but not a substitute for proper lifting mechanics.Overall, these hooks are well-made and strap comfortably around your arms. They're a great tool to have in your gym bag!

Very well made and works great. They made this product with quality materials and design. The webbing material and stitching are thick and secure. The hooks are coated and provide a good purchase point on the surface without sliding.I like to hang on a straight bar to stretch my lateral muscles and back before working out. These help keep tension off my hands and forearms so I can get a deeper and more focused stretch. I also use these for pull ups and it helps me focus on certain muscle groups rather than feel it mostly on my hands and forearms. I used them for farmer carries with kettle bells and they allowed me to focus on working my legs instead of having to stop because my grip is tired. Overall, good product, well made. Definitely would recommend.

At the time, these lifting hooks by ‘AmStaff’ are $28.Overall I’m quite happy with these. They are a fair price point and great quality for said price point. They look good, with the red and black nicely fitting the aesthetic of my gym. And most importantly, they work as intended. I can easily hang with my full body weight from a pull up bar just using the hooks and it wasn’t too bad on my wrists. The wrist strap is a thick, well stitched, comfortably padded high quality strap that is arguably twice the comfort and quality vs. my Versa Gripps Pro that cost 4x as much.I’d never actually used hooks prior to this, and I’m still not sure they’re my favourite grip style. I find grips like Versa Gripps or straps let you more easily adjust how much weight is loaded through the wrist vs fingers, whereas I found the hooks to be a bit more ‘all or nothing’, but that’s simply my personal opinion. The main ‘con’ is that I’m guessing they’re one size fits all as I didn’t see a size. I have a relatively small ~6.5” wrist and there is several inches of extra strap hanging off the end (see pic). I had a friend with an even smaller wrist try them on and although there still is enough velcro overlap to keep them on securely, it’s starting to get a bit sparse, plus the extra strap is a bit annoying. To utilize all the extra velcro in the other direction, you’d need a wrists that’s at least 10”+ around, so it’s probably excessively large.

I've never used one of these "hooks" before. So I was under the impression you could use them for all dumbbell exercises. But that isn't the case. It's only effective or practical for overhand grip exercises. If you try an underhand grip, you'll run into the problems described in my attached images. First off the plastic hook surface is too narow. So your pointing and pinky finger won't have enough space to rest, and will sort of hang off the sides - creating instability. Then there's the issue of the plastic biting into your the soft part of your palm - as you put downward pressure on the hook. But to be sure, it's actually quite excellent for overhand grip exercises. There's none of those issues described above, because literally no pressure is put on your hand. It's such an amazing feeling - like all the intensity and pressure goes to the specific muscle group you're exercising. Now I wonder about all these years of lifting - how much energy did I divert to my palm...just to deal with the issue of grip. Now it all goes exactly where I need it - with the caveat being in compatible exercises like trap pull-ups, deadlifts, and rows.Final thing I want to point out is how premium these gloves/hooks feel. The material is so thick, plush and strong. While the hook itself has this beautiful finish. I've never owned anything like this before. And I actually feel proud having it in my home gym lol! At the current price, and for the intended exercies...it's a bargain!
