About this item

  • Brand New in box; The product ships with all relevant accessories
  • Traffic Flow Signal Rejection (TFSR)
  • High Performance
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Real Voice Alerts

The Whistler Z-19R+ Bilingual Laser Radar Detector is an excellent value. This high-performance, feature-packed detector offers not only the verbal alerts but also offers a full text display. You can choose either English or Spanish for both the voice alerts and for the text readout. Also included is Whistler's FDSR (Field Disturbance Sensor Rejection), the most recent advancement to combat false alerts caused by new vehicles equipped with Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) K band blind spot and collision avoidance devices. And if you're wondering if you can use the Z-19R+ in your state, read on. Laser detectors are completely legal in every state when used in automobiles or light trucks (under 10,000 lbs.). Similarly, when used in automobiles or light trucks, radar detectors are legal in almost every state. Exceptions are Virginia and Washington DC, which have local regulations restricting the use of radar receivers in any vehicle. Concerning trucks over 10,000 lbs., the Federal Highway Administration (FHwA) issued a regulation, effective January 19, 1994, which prohibits nationally radar and laser detector use in these types of vehicles. Be safe on the road with Whistler!

You will get a lot of false positives, but if you're mostly driving in the same areas you'll catch an idea of where/why they happen (in my experience, every false positive comes from something stationary, like an industrial garage door, radio tower, etc.)I had this exact same detector a few years ago, I lost it and recently bought another after moving to another state. My old one gave a lot of false K band, while my new one gives a lot of false K band and Laser readings. I believe the topography of my new location is responsible for the false Laser readings. All of that said, 99% of what you need to worry about is Ka band and I have never gotten a false Ka band reading on either detector. If you can't afford one of the "really good" ones this is an amazing compromise for about the price of a speeding ticket, which you'll avoid several of.

This things goes off for alot of things. Goes off for newer vehicles adaptive cruise control, foward and rear collision avoidance. Gpes off for building alarms/automatic doors openimg, red light cameras, DOT cameras/signs on the highways. Goes off on cell phone transmitting calls, some video calls. Hard to distinguish false from real alarms and been through the setting to try and limit the false alarms but still haven't got the right combination.

I’ve had this radar detector for about three months now so it’s out of the return warranty type thing so I’m driving down the road and all of a sudden I get a radar detection and it sounds like the speaker is blown. It’s all crackly you can’t understand it and that for me is just a no sell for the future.

For $44 this radar detector is comparable to the $300 passport I used to have until someone stole it out of my car this little guy picks up cops from at least a mile away I was blown away at how cheap it was and how good it works
