I bought this for work because the intercom is out of order and I was missing deliveries. It is advertised as having a 400m range. The distance from the front door to my room is 23m down a straight corridor, so it should be capable of working at that distance. The doorbell works fine if the door to the room is open, but does not work if it is closed, which has caused me to miss even more deliveries. I've tried putting the receiver in different places but nothing helps. So maybe that 400m means "400m if you live in a place with no walls, doors or windows".Apart from that it works fine as a doorbell. The default volume is loud, and as it is mains powered, if you switch it off at the wall it resets itself to the default volume and chime.

I am a 74 retired lady. This bell arrived this morning and it could not have been simpler. It took me 15 mins to thoroughly read the instruction and installed it. * A) It has 3 parts, the 3 pin plug-in has volume and ring choices, B) bell button for outside, C) strong double sided stick-on tape to secure it1) The volume is fabulous and you can set it to 4 levels.2) It has 38 different door chimes that are very easy to choose and set.3) Outstanding value for price at around £144) Strong and substantially made5) I had an electric wired not working ring button, so I removed the cover and used 'BlueTac' to seal the end of the wire and stuffed it back into the hole that was there. I then flattened the Blue Tac out to make it level with the wall (Brick), I then brushed the bricks with a wire brush and then a soft brush to remove any dust that could prevent the new bell 'stick on' from sticking as good as it should. As a very good customer of Amazon, I could not give this Bell and higher rating!Go for it:: Its loud enough/cheap enough/& strong enough and works well.

There is no "ringing bell" tone in the options for this doorbell. What do I mean by that? I mean the sound made by a ringing bell. This involves: (1) a bell; and (2) ringing. Taking this to the next level, a 'bell' is a metallic object, generally dome-shaped, which makes a ringing sound when struck with a 'hammer'. The sound it makes is known as 'ringing'. Hence, a 'ringing bell' sound. A ringing bell sound does not involve an electronic 'ding dong' noise (popular with many, for reasons which have always eluded me). I happen to dislike the electronic 'ding dong' noise made by some doorbells. It's a matter of personal preference. Through the excellent question-asking facility in Mr Bezos's wondrous emporium, I specifically asked a question of past buyers about this, before buying this doorbell. 'Do the chime options include a traditional ringing bell sound (not ding dong)?', I asked. That question seemed tolerably clear to me. But oh dear, multiple people assured me that this doorbell did indeed include such a sound. They were entirely wrong. This bell has several 'ding dong' options, and an absurd number of short lines from familiar tunes, rendered electronically. I hate these. I would never use them. I just want the doorbell to ring. Like a ringing bell. (Remember the ringing bell?) The ringing doorbell is a method I like to use to alert me to the fact that someone is at the door and would like me to answer it. I do not want to hear a 'ding dong' noise to do that and, viscerally, I do not want a horrible, electronically rendered line from the William Tell Overture, Fur Elise, or Jingle Bells to do that, either. To my ear those noises are utterly naff. Personal preference, as I say - but it's my door, it's my house, and it's my sound space. Anyway, the key thing is with this doorbell there is no 'ringing bell' type chime. As for those of you who very unhelpfully chose to claim it did, I say this: ladies and gentlemen, people ask questions on Amazon to get to the facts, to inform their buying decisions. If you can't read, don't understand the question, or are just not paying attention, please just stay out of it, and don't mess things up for the rest of us. Thank you so much.

Excellent little doorbell. It arrived in a small box, neatly packaged. It was a little smaller than I had anticipated, and that was excellent, it isn't too bulky for your plug sockets! Pairing and selecting the chime was easy, as was selecting the actual chime you wanted. There's all sorts here...A barking dog, some musical tones you may recognise, and a standard single, or double door bell ring. There's plenty of tones to sink your teeth in to, though if you select one of the musical tones you may think someone's mobile phone is going off! You can select 4 loudness levels, the loudest being just loud enough to hear from upstairs if it's downstairs. It also flashes, so for people who are hard of hearing, or just want to be notified by a flashing column of blue LED's, it's perfect. The actual button itself, has been stuck on our PVC doorframe, and has seemed to stick pretty well to be honest, it doesn't look like it's going to come off anytime soon. They say the range of the bell is 300m, so for 3 bedroom house, it is perfect, you can always move the bell anywhere you want it (handy for me when I go into the garden) it will remember all the settings you have provided if you unplug or turn it off. The outside button seems pretty robust, and doesn't seem flimsy enough to break through constant pushing, it also reacts instantly which is also good. It comes with a sticky pad so you can stick the button on a doorframe, or you can permanently drill holes in the wall outside and put it there indefinitely. All in all, a great little bell for the price, offering a wide range of tones, and even has a couple of cool Christmas tunes for when the season arrives!
