My daughter’s apartment dorm desk did not have a shelf her second year. This one is pretty good. She says it’s not incredibly sturdy but it does the job well.

Set-up took about ten minutes, and the process was not as complicated as the company's video makes it seem. It's just dowels, screws, screw covers, then pick your arrangement, some more screws, and done.The material is particle board but not the super cheap kind that shreds and snaps easily; the shelf seems like it will hold up fine under books and a small printer.I got this shelf for a family member's desk: the shelf easily fits around his old 24-inch monitor with room to spare. I'm getting him little magnetic cord organizers to use on his desk so we had no need for the plastic brackets that the company shows in the video.For this price range, it's a good shelf and as advertised.
