This set of sheet metal hand seamers is not the finest quality you’ll find. They may be adequate for the home handyman doing occasional metal shaping. The main issue is the misalignment of the jaws. The tolerances are not very good. Out of the 3 pliers, only one was fairly straight and aligned. One was slightly offset, and the third one is way off.

In my experience, most "HVAC" metal bending pliers are not really up to the task of bending 18 gage sheet steel like you find on classic cars. These on the other hand, might even be overkill. I would even feel safe using these pliers as a sort of dolly for hammering against when you need a sharper corner as they are made of heavy steel. These are heavy duty tools that won't be twisted out of shape after 6 months. In fact, I would expect them to last most guys a lifetime of good, hard use. The seller does warn the joints might be tight when you get them. 2 of mine were just fine. The 3rd was fairly tight. I put a few drops of penetrating oil on the joint and worked it back and forth for about 60 seconds and it is a lot better. Not a deal breaker for sure. A little bit of "break in" is well worth the time with these heavy duty pliers. These will probably come in handy when I do a little bit of blacksmithing/forging too. I'll just have to be careful not to melt the grips.

Bending the corners of a roof gutter to align with the gutters accordingly is always difficult for me as the area. This year I have to replace an entire side of the gutter as the wind and rain has stressed it in places leaving uneven areas that needs to be bent to fit. With the hand seamers I expect the actual bending of the metal to be easier as I reattach and shape the sheet metal.Practicing on a small piece of sheet metal to get the feel of the tools, I was impressed with the jaw pressure as it makes the bending easier as the force of bending seems to distribute properly. Additionally, while slightly rough to the touch (I use gloves), the handles are comfortable to hold as your hands are not twisted when working at an angle. One thing important to point out is that the lip of the hand seamers are very sharp and sink into the metal for a tight hold. These 3 tools will definitely be used when I am fixing my gutters and I'd recommend to anyone looking to bend sheet metal.

The hinge point is good and all the seamers close with their jaws parallel. The vinyl coated handle provides good grip and some cushioning to the hand and the handles are long enough to give decent leverage.Thank you for reading my review and looking at my photos of this product. I have mixed need, most of my use for these is repair and other broad strokes tasks and these work fantastic for that! For the artistic/ precision bending which is only 10% they don't quite cut the mustard. They aren't totally aligned so one jaw is a bit off from the other which is workable but it does mean that when you are working a piece that you have to use just these tools and you have to plan your bends so that you are using the tool in the same orientation for bends on a piece. Its a little thing but it can be really frustrating in some situations.
