I'm VP of a local senior center in the north woods, and was designated the official solver of the open door problem (probably missed that meeting...). After some research I got one of these a couple years ago for our highest traffic door, the outer door of a two door airlock (those of you in snowy windy areas know what I mean). No more open doors banging back and forth, no more cold drafts whistling through. It worked so well that at our latest board meeting we decided to put them on our two remaining doors (inner airlock and "back" door), and now they're waiting for our carpenter to install them. Great product, if our kids were still at home I'd add them to our house doors too.

Purchased two of these for 1.75” x 8’ solid wood fire rated doors. Installed easily with no issues and handled the doors with ease. Exceptional quality, finish and operation - until one failed.After one year, one of the units began to groan as the door moved in either direction. I lubricated all moving parts, but the noise persisted. As the 'return window' with Amazon was closed, I contacted Yale as their products have a limited lifetime warranty. Here is their (uncorrected) verbatim response:"I appologize, we do not warrant product purchased from Amazon. The item will need to be replaced, I would recommend going through a Yale distributor if you would like a warranty replacement in the future."After receiving this interesting response and doing some on-line research, it is true that anything purchased directly Amazon, as in, "Ships from Amazon - Sold by Amazon" is sold, without a warranty and Amazon does not disclose that fact to the buyer at point of sale. However, if the item is sold by a third party seller, the warranty may be valid, but not until you've contacted that seller for verification.So, this rating applies to both Yale for not disclosing that their products warranties are void if sold by Amazon, and Amazon for their deception.

Not the easiest door closer to install, the through nuts (sex-bolts) need a Phillips or slot head. Here's what I do like adjustable back check, prevents the wind from ripping the door of the hinges, swing and latch speed and the ease of pre-loading the closer for a tight fit against door frame or other door.

This product has great quality, but unhappy that it only gives you 1 installation method and the hydraulic must be door mounted.

Horrible quality. It worked ok, was difficult to install, but easy to adjust once you figured out the adjustments. Biggest problem is it blew up after about 6 months of light use. One day the closer literally blew up, there was oil that sprayed all around the door and oil flowing down the door out of the closer, what a mess!! And now I'm left with trying to find a replacement that mounts similarly. Hopefully another brand will last more than 6 months!!

The packaging was not securely tight - parts could have fallen out during shipping. Other than that it was as expected. I mounted it on the front door of a church. So if it fails they will have to deal with the GOOD LORD. Installation was easy and went as expected. The back check worked very well.

Door openers are not something you think about until they stop working properly. My brother replaced one of the original door openers on one of the greenhouse buildings. It is rated Grade 1 which is designed for heavy commercial use. Very sturdy, it has a sleek appearance. It is a tad too industrial for residential use but is ideal for our purposes. It took my brother about fifteen to twenty minutes to install and has performed well. It makes a big difference. The one it replaced had too settings: didn't close at all or slammed shut. This one is performing admirably and I expect it to last for many years.
