Works well for the price. Granted arm got tried for a bit but very easy to use. Just fair warning it didn't like the chunky blanket weight warn but I did 2 totes of yarn in a descent amount of time.

I am very pleased with this yarn winder! Setup is quick (instructions included) and the winder is very easy to use. At first my winder was rocking, but I noticed that the hand-tightened screw that holds on the clamp was not fully screwed in. Once I tightened the screw to the maximum possible, the winder worked as it should. Winding a yarn cake is not only easy but a lot of fun too! I find that keeping firm, not strong, tension on the yarn, and keeping the yarn horizontal when going through the feed (pic 2) allows the yarn winder to create a compact yarn cake. Be sure not to allow the yarn cake to increase over the sides of the base, otherwise it will get tangled under the base of the winder. Shown in my pictures above, I started with a 3.7oz skein of yarn (pic 1). Picture 2 shows the yarn winding part way through, and you can see the tension and horizontal placement of the yarn through the guide. Picture 3 shows the completed yarn cake while still on the post. I wound the yarn until it reached the edges of the platform. Pictures 4 and 5 show the completed yarn cake with the remaining yarn wrapped around it. I would say that the yarn winder can accommodate around 3.5oz of yarn as expected, and the remaining 2oz of yarn is what I wound around the completed yarn cake. As is shown in pics 4 and 5, the wonderfully formed, compact yarn cake is able to fit into a quart size Ziplock bag for storage. Additionally, winding yarn on this winder allows one to use yarn from both the top/inside of the yarn cake and from the outside of the yarn cake. This is incredibly helpful when wanting to double up on yarn and only use one yarn cake at a time. The start of the yarn does not tangle with the end of the yarn once the yarn is wound into a yarn cake on this handy yarn winder. I highly recommend this product.

Pretty good. Stable when clamped to the table. Just wish the arm (or whatever that's called) was a little bigger so it could support a bigger yarn ball. Still a good product.
