Not very loud. Can scream lounder then the whistle. Useless to use as added security if lost in the woods or approached by someone. Not sure how they would work for dog training.

Got this so I could have one on my keys, my mom could have one and I could give one to my cousin for her college survival kit, and give one to her best friend. that leaves me two I am thinking of giving one to my sister as well. the sound quality is great. perfect for when you are out walking alone.

Loud? Hell yes! This is what you want for attracting help out in the woods, or downtown for that matter. Would have been 5 stars but the little rings that hold it to the little chain are soft and pull apart easily. A snag on a bush would do it. I replaced them with sturdier hardware and am good to go. Slender design and one piece construction make this a 'last 'forever' piece.

My husband bought these to be able to call our dogs in when we go on hikes as they like to run ahead and sometimes get out of eyesight. I will tell you what.. they are loud. You don't want to be standing right next to someone else blowing on this thing.Its incredibly light and add no weight to gear and are nice to have in case of emergencies, clip onto hiking gear or keys and you will always be found or heard.I would recommend buying 2 packs and just keeping them in every car, purse, keyring, drawer because why not. If you ever need one its there.

I purchased several different whistles to place in everyday carry kits (Altoid-tin style kits). All of these whistles work well and are loud -- which was not the case with other sets I ordered. They are really small, too- slightly less diameter than a pencil and fits in the altoid tin without taking up much room. I am purchasing another set to have on hand. Recommended- great product for the price.

Extremely loud and great. Awesome colors. We used them when hiking through the Mighty Five (in case someone got lost). They were fun to play with and small. Take up not room but are extremely loud.

I blew one of these just to see how it would sound. The dog across the road started howling and her owner, a paramedic, vaulted the fence at his place and came running like a lunatic. I shouted that I was fine and just trying out a new whistle. He slowed to a trot and when he got to me he said, my dear, don't use that whistle casually, please. You see what happens. They train us to hear and respond tol distress calls. I looked doubtfully at the ilttle whistle in my hand and said, gosh, and I got six of them. I was going to share them. He sazid do, please, but please, not with children. This is truly a pitch we respond to. I said yeah, is your dog gonna keep howling? He told the dog to knock it off and she did. In oither words, this one powerful little whistle and I'm glad to have one at my front door, one in my bedroom, two in my bug out bags, one in my messenger bag, and one somewhere else. I did some asking around and found that there truly are tones of whistles that medical and law enforcement personnel are trained and expected to respond to and these whistles meet those tone rules. I am so reassured to have these.
