If you are looking for a basic, easy to use radio to replace your old AA pocket transistor radio… you will need to look elsewhere. If you think you can pick up this radio and access half of its functions without reading the instruction manual… you would be mistaken. If you are that rare individual that actually reads instructions before turning on a new toy, a nerd (in the most positive sense of the word), or just love quirky stuff… then this may be the ultimate radio version of a fidget cube. Overall operation is far from intuitive, which can be either challenging and fun, or downright frustraing if youʻre just trying to change modes. As a radio/speaker, it is packed with features and allows you to listen to multiple sources including AM, FM, Shortwave, NOAA,TF Card, and Bluetooth. Itʻs not easy finding a radio with good AM reception and I was pleasantly surprised at how well this unit pulls in my favorite stations even though I live in a valley with poor reception. The caveat is that you need to connect the separate T-type antenna to get that reception, which is not a problem since it doesnʻt add a lot of bulk and can be turned for best reception while the speaker remains pointed towards the listener. Sound is decent considering how small this unit is, and is actually much better than most traditional transistor radios… just donʻt expect any bass. Itʻs fine for me as I listen mostly to talk radio and podcasts. The metal case is quite heavy and feels solid. Controls are all over the place with multiple functions depending on the mode… which is fun or frustraing depending on your personality. Unnecessary but fun is the inclusion of a tiny bubble level that doubles as the power indicator on one side that actually works and is calibrated to center when you lay the unit down on its back. The speaker grill (which controls frequency) spins too easily and pushes the tuning off when I pick it up the wrong way. Scan the QR code on the back of the radio to download the app if you want a larger interface thatʻs easier to work with, especially when you want to customize the sound or do other things when youʻre not in the mood to fiddle. It really does depend on your personality if this is the right radio for you. For me, I really enjoy the high fidget factor, and the quirky controls are like having a secret password to operate that will confuse the casual user. All that in a genuinely good performing radio makes this a good addition to my collection.

I don't know why people have a problem with this little radio? Just download the app! Sounds great, I received an AM station 127 miles away with the little bar antenna, and many FM stations including the weather station with only an inch of the whip antenna exposed. Considering i live 25 miles from town, I am impressed. I put in a 64 gig micro SD card, with 9508 songs on it and it works great. The radio -C app works great, my favorite feature. I love this little thing, robust in every way, and really performs well. This is the third radio I have purchased from ZHIWHIS and they are all top notch. I totally recommend this company. I also love the bar antenna, removable battery. Side note, I received WWV with 3 inches of the whip exposed.

There are a ton of cool features built into this tiny little multi-band radio, including that it can be used as a bluetooth speaker, it can play music from a memory card, and it even has a built-in bubble level. It also comes with a ton of accessories, including: a drawstring bag, a really nice long antenna for FM and shortwave listening, a dedicated AM antenna, a lanyard, and a carabiner and mounting ring. It's definitely the most accessories I've seen come with a radio at this or any price point. Big credit for that. And it has an app!My problem with this unit is that even the most basic functions are complicated to access. There is a single button on top that can be pressed down or pressed up / down / left / right, and also you have to keep track of short and long presses and also multi-tap presses. This single complex button controls tuning, volume, and mode selection, among other functions. You cant even turn the volume up or down easily on this radio (up is single presses of the button, but only in certain modes, and turning the volume down relies on you to press and hold until it goes down to the level you want).Simply put, this is the least intuitive radio I have ever used. I absolutely would not want to rely on this in any sort of emergency or adverse weather situation. It took me almost 15 minutes to get FM radio to play. And I'm a technically inclined person and I don't mind a little complexity. I do not recommend this radio for most people. If you want a radio that is sort of like a Rubix cube, definitely get this one.
