This is great! My use case is that my power went out during a storm which resulted in my sump pit overflowing and flooding the basement. I didn’t want to go through that again and we know that battery backups usually work but can both fail and wear down over time of use and in standby. We can nearly always count on residential water pressure though! This brings me peace of mind and was easy to install, the pump works great and I’ve heard it turn on to protect us during power outages before. It even saved me about a year from installing when rocks got into my sump pump and prevented it from running appropriately. A great investment for the protection of my home!

So far so good. Couldn't find much "end-user" info on this item before purchase, so here's my $0.02. It's plastic, but seems well designed. They propose two mounts, up high on a rafter (horizontal) or lower clamped to the primary pump dischage pipe. I picked lower - had some concerns about how far it can "suck" water up from a sump pump - 8 ft ceiling plus 2 ft pit means drawing up 10 ft - seemed like a lot. I looked all over but couldn't find the limit. Anyhow .. it went in OK. Be careful screwing brass 3/4 adaptor into plastic .. but mine went in fine and no leaks (needed 2 90s because pex line coming from above). I did find a back flow preventer on amazon for about $30 (code required) but skipped the filter (recommended) since I think my city water is very clean and couldn't really find one that seemed right. It uses a separate float switch down in the pit attached above the main pump. It uses about 1/8" air hose to connect up to the device valve. I guess float "pressurizes" the hose to actuate the valve above (?) whatever, it seems to work fine. I did install separate 1-1/2" discharge pipe, again supposedly code required. BTW the pipe going into the pit can be 1-1/4 or 1-1/2" .. I used 1-1/4 because I had some laying around. When I lift the float to test it really blasts water out of the pit (BTW my city water pressure is good - about 70 psi). Took half a day to install .. took my time. All in all I like it and no more worries about batteries and chargers and 12v back up pumps.

It’s nice because it uses your water system for a backup instead of batteries.

Purchased this 1 yr ago and it has saved me from disaster twice. First after about 6 months my primary sump pump failed in a rain storm and the second during another storm we lost power for a few hoursBoth times without me taking any action the Zoeller water backup pump float went on when water reached it. Water never rose above sump pump pit top in either situationThis is a great backup that requires little to no maintenanceInstallation is medium for DYI - I’m not a pumper and took me 2.5 hours

Did not work for me out the box. Properly installed and in my particular setup the lift was not high and I had great water pressure so hint seemed defective.

This product leaked out of the box where the impeller meets up with the Y connection. I had to re-install this product 3x before I figured out that the leak was coming from the part that was pre-assembled. I took that apart and applied a generous amount of Teflon tape and now it is fine...... but very disappointed that this was overlooked, cost me some $$$.

I ordered from Canada. I got shipping notice and confirmation about the amount which included a line item for Import Fees totalling $49.58 Cdn. I complained and order was retracted. I found out when I tried to track the owner.Nevertheless, I reordered and this time no import fees were added. As a DIY guy, I drew a picture of how to connect to water and drain as a secondary sump pump. With power outages increasing, having a water powered sump pump is mandatory.Included in photos is the pump spy that comes with two back flow valves. I cut one side of the spy pump so things fit better.Photos show Zoeller sump pump mounted vertically. Water input at bottom and water out at top.

This backup pump works great! I selected it based on the reputation of regular Zoeller primary sump pumps.I am not a plumber and spent my time installing it and using shark-bite fittings and valves as I didn’t want to get into soldering connections. I contacted Zoeller afterwards and recommended they specify pipe dope instead of Teflon tape for the screw-type connections and provide more detailed instruction on how to connect the float valve hose connections.

First off the one I was sent was definitely used. Two of the O-rings were broke and a silicon/caulk was put in place of where they would go, this messes with the functionality of the unit and dictates how you would install it. In my case I was able to remedy this on my own, but for as much as this costs it shouldn't have even been an issue. Second, there is no built-in backflow/backsiphonage prevention so you will need to purchase a dual check valve with an atmospheric vent since this will be connected directly to your potable water supply.THAT BEING SAID....It works great and offers piece of mind when we are on vacations or not at home when the power goes out or even if the main sump pump gets clogged up a bit.
