I ordered these for use as a scraper/pick tool for automotive restoration. Sometimes it's handy to have a tool like this for cleaning grease and grime off old parts, and digging into corners to loosen caked on dirt. The tool measures about 10" long in total, with the handle figuring about half that length, and the 90 degree hook is about 7/8" long. The metal shank is about 1/4" or 6mm. The plastic handle is hollow with threads so you can attach it to a broom handle or paint roller extension arm for reaching way in or up. The handles have a nice ergonomic shape and come with a rubber sleeve over the point to protect against injury or damage. They feel very sturdy and didn't bend easily with normal use. I wouldn't hit them with a hammer like a railroader would, but I think they'll hold up to normal use respectful of the materials and capability.

These are a pair of good sturdy tools. Well suited for their purpose. I should get good use out of them.

These are modified paint roller handles. All they did was shorten the shank that the roller would connect to, and grind it down to a point. The handle is easily recognizable as a paint roller handle with the screw in socket.So, how does it work as a hook? Great. It is a simple tool for those times where you need a hook or grab something substantial. I’m immediately thinking of those irrigation locker covers outside that have a hole and are usually difficult to remove with a screwdriver as you need that right angle of this type of tool to pull up. A handle the fits well in the hand, with a threaded hole in the base just like paint rollers have, for an extension if needed, and a metal pick with a 90-degree bend, about 3/4th of an inch from the end.Sold as a textile inspection tool, this tool is capable of so much more, in many industries. Trains, planes, and automobiles. Repair shops of every kind. Fabrication shops. Let your imagination run wild. Removing o-rings, and cleaning their grooves. Detailing gasket surfaces.Having one of these in your toolbox, I guarantee you will find more than one use for it.
