The Power Cord of this unit is defective and turns unit on and off without touching. Thermometer is off by 8-10 degrees too high.

My original outdoor sensor suddenly died and I took a chance buying this replacement. The reviews seemed a bit mixed but the base station was able to find and sync with this unit without issue. It might be my imagination but the range seems a bit better as well. I was able to place it in a spot the factory sensor would constantly drop out in and I've had zero drop outs with this unit.

Bought this to replace the sensor on the weather station I have versus buying a whole new system. Just turned the indoor unit off and then back on and it works perfectly. Very happy!

I purchased this to replace a thermostat that we had outside for our weather station that stopped working. The only reason I gave it four stars is no directions came with it! I had to go to the Amazon website and look at reviews before I found out how to pair it with my current weather station. Then it worked perfectly. So directions would be quite helpful.

So glad I came here. At first, I saw the brand name "AMTAST," thinking it wouldn't work with Smartgear. So, I had to look elsewhere. A week later, I came back to read the reviews and questions. I noticed a few mentioning about this sensor working with Smartgear. So, I took the risk of buying it. Lo and behold, it works! I have a STG-5939-KB (pictured). To be honest, when I inserted the batteries the first time while the weather station was plugged in, it didn't load up. But after unplugging the weather station, the remote sensor finally synced with it. I love this weather station. I have a new one, but I'm sending that back.

Very well done. This is the second one I have bought. The first lasted nine years, then it developed inconsistencies with picking up the outside readings. I looked at others but once again choose this one. It is especially easy to read and very accurate. The time, outside and inside numerals are large and bright white to contrast with the background. I thought possibly in the nine years improvements may have made which prompted me to look at other brands: alas, none could compare. If I needed another right now I would again buy this one.

Bought this to replace a previous unit that was branded Smart Gear, but it's the exact same unit. Never had any problems, only had to replace because one or both of the batts had burst and corroded inside the outdoor sensor and I didn't want to spend time cleaning it out. Probably had the previous unit at least 6 years, probably would have lasted several more. Bonus: apparently both units were set to the same frequency, so both the old and new displays are both reporting from the new outdoor sensor.Pros:Easy to read display (not cluttered); easy set-upCons:Display is LCD, so the viewing angle drops severely if it is mounted above eye level. No viewing angle issues if mounted below eye level. No particular issues from side view angle either.
