They work well but the compass is a mess and not accurate.

It's always a good idea when hiking or camping to keep a whistle on you in case of emergencies. I think that can extend to a lot more situations. The whistle is nice and shrill and should be heard a good distance away, alerting help. The compass and thermometer are nice touches.I might put a hook and loop on the whistle to attach to my GTFO bag while the lanyard is there to keep it attached to the gear.The plastic is resistant to ordinary punishment like dropping on the floor, etc. It would take concentrated effort to damage this whistle.
