I have used cups identical to these for over 10 years and never had a problem. I have had nothing but issues with these. About 6 of them broke during install. They just snapped off at the thread. I was not over tightening them at all. In fact they are too loose but if I tighten any more they snap. Next issue and arguably the biggest issue is that the red cups don’t stay attached. It doesn’t take much for the chickens to knock them off, then when they go to drink and push on the yellow tab it will pop off and all the water in the bucket will drain out. Thank god I don’t have the automatic hose hooked up yet or I would have flooded the coop many times over. I find cups, and yellow clips missing along with totally empty water buckets at least 3 times a week. Today, in desperation I duct taped the cups in place. Maybe I will get lucky and that will work. I would have returned them but I already threw away at least 7 of them. I love the design but these specific ones suck. Don’t buy.

So if you want thO use these on a bucket have the appropriate amount of silicone washers available to seal both sidesOf the bucket I used ones from my gravity fed nipples to accomplish this be prepared to glue the cups in place as my flock can Un lock them from the nozzles

Once again my wife ordered us a flock of chickens and feeding and watering them can be a pain in the butt if you don’t have the proper equipment. We use a five gallon bucket with these spouts encircling the outside. No learning curve, just set up a container and add these spouts, fill the bucket with water and put the lid back on. Then set the container up where the chickens have access and they will keep themselves hydrated!♥️These spouts are replacing ones that have been in use continuously since 2017, so they are durable, clean easy(just spray them with the hose), look great and the Red color attracts the chickens right to it!

Let's start with, "Do they work?" Mechanically speaking, yes. If you press down or in on the yellow trigger the water flows. The install easily on a 2.5 or larger food grade bucket with out issue. I went the extra mile and replaced the stock washers with neoprene ones inside and out then secured them with a nut on the inside to hedge my bets; however, drilling and fitting onto a PVC pipe was a excercise in futility. If you are choose to risk purchasing these cups, buy the threaded fittings seperately. Now, I love our 9 chickens but on the avian intelligence scale chickens rank pretty low and have the attention span of a 3 year old on a sugar high at a carnival. They'll drink from them just fine, but due to the water flow being minimal when the yellow trigger is pressed down, and the small size of the trigger, the cups don't refill when the chickens drink for them which results in my wife or eye having to manually press the triggers in to refill the cups which of course defeats the purpose of speading money on these in the first place.
