I was nervous when reading the reviews of these that they’d turn off, or not work- but I ordered them anyhow to try. I turned them on, put them in place, and removed makeshift barricades. Then went to sleep. (My vacuum runs in the middle of the night.)To my surprise and delight, I woke up and they worked like a charm! The vacuum didn’t go where it wasn’t supposed to and everything was clean! Granted, this was the first time. We shall see how they continue to work and I’ll update if anything changes.

These are much smaller than the original lighthouse barriers. That is great plus they use AA batteries instead of D. The iRobot recognized them immediately. Just put the batteries in, turn on (2 settings available), put it where you need and your good to go.

These sensors work well, almost a little too well. They definitely work past the mentioned feet and I had to account for that. I wanted to put it along the wall towards the back on my stools so my room a doesn’t get stuck on the legs but I had to put the sensor in the middle of the room towards the wall since the sensor reaches super far. They last about a week with a full charge as well so as long as you’re okay with charging them once a week they will be perfect for you. Good value for the money considering room a charges an arm and a leg for the same thing.

I bought these because they were rechargeable, but I don’t like them as well as my regular iRobot brand virtual barriers that required batteries. These rechargeable barriers lose their charge quite quickly compared to the iRobot brand barriers with batteries. For instance, I’ve had my iRobot brand barriers for two years and I put batteries in when I first got them and I’ve never replaced the batteries and they still work today. I’ve had these rechargeable barriers for 3 weeks and I’ve already had to recharge them twice. The product info says a light is supposed to come on to let you know the battery is low, but so far I’ve not seen a light to indicate that. I don’t know that they’re dead until the roomba runs on its schedule and goes past the barrier and gets into an area i don’t want it. If a light does come on, it is not noticeable at all as I have both of these in my living area where the lights are low often enough for watching tv that I should be able to see a light on these barriers. So technically the product is great in theory but does not meet expectations in reality.

My Roomba had issues around a swivel chair and I put one of these on “halo” mode right in front of it and it did just as advertised and went right around it! I will sometimes use the straight line feature to restrict access to rooms that I don’t necessarily want to shut the door to, or block off kitchen access so it’s not under foot while cooking. I bought the rechargeable ones and they come with a USB charger and go from red to green once charged. Very quick and handy device that stops you from having to create physical barriers!
