I'm 5'4 female and these fit me well. I like lighter weight gators that protect my legs but don't overheat them. These are the exact weight that I like. I've worn them 3 times backpacking now. In the early spring I used them for several creek crossings. The material was waterproof, but remember, if you submerge your legs in a creek- the water will come up inside from the bottom. For the creek crossings where only my feet/ankles were quickly passing through- these kept my legs dry. For the creek crossing that we probably should not have gone through that was at my knees- the water seeped in from the ankle area- but it definitely helped and kept me dryer than being bare legged. I also used these during a hotter day and they didn't make me sweat and kept the mud off my pant legs incredibly well. And last- I recently used them on a hike on a nice spring day when all of the ticks decided to come out! I put duct tape around the top of the gator sticky side out and around the ankle area of the gator sticky side out and between the tape to get the ticks to stick to and the gators to protect my leg openings- I didn't have any ticks attach or find there way inside my pant legs! I think these will hold up for several seasons. The zippers, velcro, and buckle are a good above average quality. I would take care when pulling off the velcro, these aren't triple stitched like more expensive brands, but I'd prefer to pay less and have gators that are lighter weight than purchase really expensive, thick gators that make my legs hot and tired.

The buckle on top of the leg gaiters do a great job of tying them to my legs.
