When to Replace AC Capacitor

How to Replace AC Capacitor
1. turn off the power
2. Remember how the several wires on the capacitor are connected
3. Take out the capacitor
4. Put our new capacitor in and reconnect it in the original way.

The capacitor on my heat pump burned out and I needed to get it going in the middle of a heat wave. I ordered this one and it arrived fast. All the specs were exactly the same as the one I had to replace. Installation only took a few minutes and I was back in business. The warranty is excellent. If for some reason I need to replace it in the future I will definitely get another one of these.

I went to start my downstairs air conditioner this summer and all it did was blow hot air. At the AC unit outside, the fan would come on, but the compressor never started. Having dealt with this before, I knew it was most-likely a bad starter capacitor. Capacitors do go bad over time and they certainly take a beating during the scorching hot summers. These Loyalline 45+5μF 45/5 MFD AC Capacitors fixed my AC issue immediately. I love that this was a two pack and is currently priced very reasonably for what you'll get. The capacitors were packaged very nicely, with foam on all sides to prevent damage. There were also little rubber caps over the terminals. These are the nicest packaged capacitors I have ever bought online. Upon arrival, neither capacitor had any body damage and were in perfect shape. In this heat, it's just a matter of time, before my upstairs AC starts displaying the same symptoms. At least I have a spare now thanks to this two-pack. Thank you!

It is that time of year to start using the a/c which is also the time I replace the capacitor to get through the summer. This is a yearly ritual I do because if I don’t I’ll be outside changing the capacitor with the first nasty heat wave in mid summer. I know it’s an older unit but I’ve be doing this for six years now and it still runs fine. These capacitors seem to be a better quality than the ones I have been using and I know it will last the summer. This capacitor fits much better in the bracket which holds it in place than the ones I have been using. I’m looking forward to having a summer without having to change the capacitor and the so far the unit is working just fine.

I ordered these capacitors for my boys whole house air conditioners. These capacitors usually fail on the hottest day and when service technicians are booked weeks out. These are easy to replace just kill power and note which wire goes to which terminal. The capacitors tested within the 5% tolerance and are of good quality. I assume they will last much longer than the sellers 5 year warranty. They are nice items at a good price for a pair of capacitors with a long warranty compared to others for sale. I am happy with this order and would order these again. I would also recommend these to others. Let the heat begin and our AC units will be happy too with new capacitors.

Heat pump/AC capacitors have a habit of failing on the hottest day of the year. If you don't have a spare, as I didn't the first time this happened, all you can do is call someone to fix it and wait two days in the heat. Then to add insult to injury they will charge you for an emergency call-out, as well as their normal $100 diagnostic charge and $60 for a cheap capacitor which may last another year.After that experience, I bought a spare. I think I paid about $11 for it. I didn't realise that a capacitor is not just a capacitor. That used to be pretty much the case when PCB dielectrics were used, and they lasted for many years. With PCBs not being used now, the quality and type of oil used as the dielectric really matters, as does the care in construction.The guarantee of 10,000 hours minimum for this gives me hope that the next time my heat pump capacitor fails, when I replace it, it will be the last time for a long time.The care in packaging and terminal protection gives me hope that the same sort of care extends to the parts we can't see.
