My goal was to sprout broccoli seeds, and I made the right choice. I like this unit.I have placed 1 teaspoon and sprinkled it on the tray surface. Wetted with two cups of water... drains slowly. Second day same with the next tray. The first day seeds had white dots starting to sprout. Some light is OK, " darkness helps prevent etiolation, a process where seedlings become stretched and pale due to lack of light."While not mentioned, it is important to have the stack on a level surface or use something to wedge it level, otherwise the seeds will pool at one side vs spread out.

I love these things, they sprout the seeds quickly and cleanly, and keep them fresh in fridge for a few days if I can't eat them fast enough. No mold, sometimes sprouts look moldy but that's just the root system, look more closely. I'm sprouting an alfalfa, broccoli and radish mix, and it's awesome on a sandwich with a little tomato and some turkey.

I really wanted to like this as I was using a collander with a pan and covered it with paper towel which worked well, but I wanted something more plug and play.Sprouting was at a minimum, there did see to be molding, even though I drained it daily and rewatered.Like others are saying here, the issue is that the stacks need more airflow. After day 3, I have some sprouting, but are very small compared to my original method.Too bad.

It claims to be good for broccoli and alfalfa seeds, but those tiny seeds still managed to fit through the drain holes. For larger seeds, it works well. Germination was a bit lacking and I used new this year seeds. The seeds that did germinate grew well. I had to run it through the dishwasher twice to get it clean after the first batch. I prefer the mason jar lids with fine holes for broccoli and alfalfa because there's much less wasted seed

We have been working towards a healthier diet, more veggies and salads, and it occurred to us that we might start making sprouts. It's amazing, now that we have tried it, not only how easy it is to do, but the array of plants to sprout, and the different flavors (definitely try radish). I have also been using it between batches of sprouts to check the viability of the other seeds we are getting for spring planting- nicer than a wet paper towel and a baggie. Handy item and a good value.

i just recently got into growing sprouts. i have been using the canning jar method which works really well, but i wanted to try out these stacked sprout trays. One thing i really like about the stacked trays is that i can grow 4 different types of sprouts at the same time and it uses less counter space than doing 4 separate canning jars. The trays are easy to set up. Directions say to add 1-2 tsp of seeds per tray and not to over crowd them. i used 1 tsp on the first 2 tiers because the seeds were really small. Then i used 2 tsp of the larger seeds in the bottom 2 containers. i'm growing alfalfa, broccoli, lentil and bean sprouts. The alfalfa and broccoli seeds seemed like an appropriate amount for the trays, but then the bean and lentil could have used a lot more seeds.Directions were mostly fine, but i didn't feel like they were entirely clear. You have to drain the water and add fresh 2 cups each day. i had to put a plate under it, because that 2 cups completely fills up the bottom tray and it spills everywhere when you try to empty it. i wasn't entirely sure what the shade bag was for. It's not mentioned in the instructions.i think once i figure out the correct amount of seeds to add to each try it will be fine. i prefer the canning jars for doing just 1 or 2 types of sprouts, but this is nice for growing a lot all at one time. It's easy to clean and i like that it stacks for easy storage.
