Winter is over and I can now hang out in the outdoors! Finally warm enough for me to jump into this rewiring project. I cross checked the instructions and found some similar video how-tos online, so I followed them. (The only difference I found was these instructions said to unhook your negative battery terminal, and the ones I saw online did not mention that extra step... if it is a matter of safety, then I would stress to not do what I did and don't ignore this step. This said, all is okay fine!)I followed instructions and took out the bottom and sides of the back compartment as mentioned. A helpful hint that I found online is that the wire connection may be hard to reach and pull out becasue it could be wound with blue tape to hold it in place behind the panelling, and mine was. So I cut the tape and was able to pull it down into a more workable position. All else whet well... just be gentle with unsnapping the locking tabs in your car, as they can wear down very easily, and are hard to snap back into place if they get bent or worn. My only complaint that I wish the wiring included was a little longer between the connection and the control box. There was very little space left to be able to put the car's flooring back in with the control box in the way. I would also check your connection with the trailer at this stage, before you put the floor back together, just in case the fuse is bad. THis will help prevent you from ripping it all back out again.I have every confidence that this part of the job worked well. WHat took the longest was not having the right hand tools, and having to keep running into the garage to try and find them, each time I started a new task... get your tools together first! Now my problem is that the lightbulbs and/or wiring on the trailer itself needs to be replaced, so I can't test it until I fix that mess! (I have a tiny 3' x 4' utility trailer, with wood floor, with just two lights, so wiring that shouldn't be too hard, once I figure how to get access to the underside of it!)UPDATE: I bought a little connection tester and yes, wires are not working on the trailer side! This harness connection lit up and is working perfectly fine! Now to fix the trailer wires... arrgh!

My car is a 2025 Subaru OutbackTools needed, 12MM wrench for the bolt that the ground wire will attach to, and wire strippers with crimpers.Remove cover to spare tire and tool storage tray. You will see the wire harness on the rear passenger side (See photo). Remove 12MM bolt that holds the rear cover bracket. I removed the smaller round wire connector and used the larger connector that came with the wire harness. Crimp the larger round wire connector onto the white ground wire and put it on the bolt and put the bracket back into place with the bolt. Connect the wire harness and check break lights, left and right turn signals, and emergency flashers. There is plenty of wire to connect to the trailer connector.

Upon initial unboxing and inspection, this appears to be of good quality and construction. It will be a few months before I am able to install and test this due to winter and not using my trailer for a while. If there are any problems later, I will return to update my review.I have installed and used this type of pre-wired harness on several of my vehicles in the past and they generally work well.A key to longevity is keeping the end of the harness protected from the elements when not in use. I have found that running the wire that connects to the trailer through the interior and through the rear hatch best for me. When not in use, I put the wires back inside the car instead of leaving it hanging on the exterior near the hitch.

R the hook up where they told you it was gonna be in the directions was not where it was. It was much easier where it was then the directions 45 minutes to try to find it underneath the side panels when it was right in the trunk right near the back end of the car.
