I bought this to use as an AIS receiver with an RTL-SDR radio, for testing. Popped up on the cabin top and it worked on first try. I've ordered a second radio for permanent installation on the boat, will keep this antenna for testing and as a backup for AIS and for handheld radios. As a temporary mounting, a big steel washer and I can attach it to the cloth dodger on the boat in a flash, perfect for temporary testing or as a backup antenna.

I bought one of these to use with my SDRs and it works flawlessly. Was able to pickup signals from air traffic, 2m, and even CB. The magnet is pretty strong. Overall worth the price.

Got one of these as a scanner antenna, then put it on my car for a temporary mobile antenna. The SMA connector fell apart whenever I was pulling it through the seats to connect to the front radio.

Mfr advertises these things for UHF for 400-470MHz. Bought these to use for GMRS, coupled with Tidradio TD-H5, essentially the same radio as sold branded as a Baofeng or a Radioddity, a 5W HT for GMRS.On a four-bar scale, in a suburban area with mostly single-story homes, at roughly 2000' got 3-4 bars strengh with the radio OEM rubber ducky antennas, inside the vehicle, windows down. Same test with these antennas placed on the center of the vehicles' roofs got 2-3 bars.At roughly 3200' in the same suburban area, got 1-2 bars strength with the OEM rubber ducky antennas while inside the vehicle with the windows down. Same test with these on the center of the vehicle roofs had no Rx.The whole point of putting a light-duty SMA mag-mount on the roof is to make it work better than what comes with the HT, to try to get a little more capability out of those 5W than one gets inside of a metal-bodied car. I don't have the equipment to measure SWR but I have to strongly consider that these aren't actually tuned to the advertised frequency.

I used this on a Baofeng G11 GMRS radio. No, not good. Reception inferior to the stock rubber ducky antenna. On both GMRS and weather band frequencies. I tested on a car with the foam sticky pad not in use, on two different identical G11's. I did not test rubber ducky inside the car vs this on the roof. Granted it might be better in that scenario. But inferior reception to a shorter ducky is not acceptable. I was lured by the sma connector for direct hook up to the radio, but I assume the thin wire presents too much loss. Going to an NMO and an adapter, etc.

Actually it doesn't work for what I was going to use it for as the fitting won't work and doesn't match. I am keeping it though as I will use it on something else in the very near future.
