I use these collars to keep my small dogs from slipping through my fence. This collar has an adjustable cord to tighten around the neck. The apple is filled with stuffing, but not quite enough for it to look full and plump, and for that I took off a star. With how squishy it is, it can smush down through a fence. The collar itself is soft and would definitely keep an animal safe while recovering from a procedure.

This is the cutest thing ever! I actually ordered this for my chihuahuas, who don't need it. I just ordered it more as a cute accessory for them vs. a post-surgical collar. It would work great for a post-surgical collar though. Unlike the dreaded cones of shame, which are hard, but flexible plastic, this is soft and made of fabric. It is easy to slide over the animal's head and has a little strap in the back to tighten it enough so that the animal can't get it off. I ordered the larger size offered (I think it is listed as "medium") and it fits my 7 and 8 lb. chihuahuas and my 17 lb. chihuahua/pomeranian mix. I have one dog that I could have used this for its actual purpose. She is a bigger, miniature schnauzer who weighs around 27-28 lbs and gets hot spots every year. She will gnaw her back end raw, so I have to use a cone on her at times. Unfortunately, this cone doesn't even come close to being big enough to fit her, but I really didn't expect it to since it is advertised as being for cats. It would have been a nice bonus if she could have wore it though. I hope to find something similar like it in her size. I'm so glad I ordered this - it is a great product!

My sisters cat is about to go in to be neutered and she got him this to help with recovery. She has been having him wear it to get used to it and so far it is working so much better than a traditional cone. He is able to move around with easy and hasn't gotten stuck on anything with the "cone". He seems very comfortable in it and because it's adjustable it fits him purrfectly. He did try to get it off at first but he wasn't able to make any progress, and he has basically given up trying to get it off when she puts it on him. He is still able to use the litter box without any trouble and he can still play with it on. This is a great buy for any cat that is going to be recovering from surgery and way better than traditional cones that just seem to cause problems.

Y'ALL. One of my cats has terrible allergies this time of year and always ends up chewing some of her fur off. Plastic cones aren't really great since she needs to wear it for an extended period, so we ordered her some soft cone-shaped cones. She's kind of a thick girl, so normally the neck is right but the length of the cone is too much. She ends up dropping dry food all over house, and somehow getting litter caked on the outside of the cone. I never considered ordering a collar like this because (despite her size) she's very flexible and I just didn't think it would work. But the other day I snapped after I trying to wash her smelly cloth cone for the hundredth time, and decided this was our last shot.First of all, I didn't think my cat could be any cuter, but she is. The cone I ordered was medium, but I was sent a small so I was worried. Luckily, the small does fit her okay (she's about 13lbs). We're able to do the two finger rule, so I know it's not tight on her. I read that some people in the reviews had concerns about the string on the closure, and I definitely can mirror that sentiment. This is what works for us: Once the plastic piece is adjusted to where you want it, untie the not (it's easy enough that I can do it with my arthritic hands). Then either tie it in a bow (you'll probably have to keep re-tying it though), or you can make a little knot at the end of each string. The biggest worry (I can tell you from experience) is that the tie comes undone and you can't find the plastic cinch piece anymore. That is a concern no matter how the string is tied. This string is nylon, so any knots will come undone a lot easier than a cotton string. Anyway, aside from that small concern if you have a cat (like another one of ours) who is a chewer and won't leave things alone, I think this is actually a very solid option. Our cat can't get to her back where she nibbles the most, she's not throwing kibble around the house like confetti, and I've not had to clean caked-up litter off of her once. She looks noticeably more at ease than when she was wearing her old cone, and I'm not worried about this developing a smell after I wash it. I'm so glad that I frustration-ordered this because honestly this is the best solution we've tried that makes everybody happy.

Our cat had to have surgery to remove a tumor from her ear and she has to wear a cone for 2 weeks to keep her from scratching at it. She was absolutely miserable with the plastic cone the vet provided, so I got this one in hopes that it would be more comfortable. She would hardly move with the plastic cone, and when she did, it was mostly to try to aggressively rub up against things to try to get it off. When we put the orange cone/collar on, she didn't try to take it off and she seems to be doing her normal routine. Jumping up on my desk, running around as usual, eating, drinking, everything as she would usually, and no scratching at her ear. It works perfectly. I know she doesn't like to wear it, but it's much better than the plastic cone. Paws up!
