Made of soft wood, which is easy to engrave. The raised center does make it a but more difficult to sand the whole peice smooth, but it's doable. The sample I received was straight, no warping of the wood. It's a bit shorter than some actual sorority paddles, but this is decorative, right? On the laser, engraving was no challenge.

This paddle will be useful for my plan to include it on a staff. Others may feel that it is thin to be used as a paddle by itself.
