SIMPLE INSTALLATION
Step 1
Drill 1 inch from the bottom of any bucket. The nipples should sit chest to beak level of your poultry. Place a object underneath to achieve this.
Step 2
Insert nipple in to drilled hole. Insure rubber ring is placed outside the bucket to avoid leaks. Rubber ring should NOT be inside the bucket.
Step 3
Rotate the wing nut until the nipple is firmly in place. Do not over tighten or under tighten. Repeat these steps for the remaining nipples.
Step 4
Use the installation tool to screw the nipple in to the bucket.

These chicken watered nipples are so easy to install and perfect for the chickens to use. I haven’t had any issues with them leaking which is really nice. It’s handy that it comes with everything that you need for installation so you don’t need to find a drill bit or anything yourself. They are high quality and worth the money!

My hens preferred the big bucket of water and did not take to the new setup water nipples. And in winter the nipples froze up

I like the bargain of this package - including both the bit and wingnuts and silicone washers with the nipples.I've used other brands of these in red color before, and these yellow ones were direct replacements. The springs on these tend to wear and get loose, and grit in the water can prevent them from sealing, leading to drippy nipples and wet floors.The 9mm drill bit included is larger than the 5/16" (8mm) bit which I usually use to start the holes in buckets for these. After drilling, I usually hit the hole with a heat gun before pressing and screwing the nipple in. Wingnuts and silicone o-rings are optional with this technique. I can't imagine using the socket to install these with a drill, but one is included.The chickens don't seem to care, but I feel better knowing that they have clean, poop-free water available. I've found by lining the buckets with some foam and dropping like a 60w heater in the bucket that they can provide water not ice through the winter here in Alaska.

I will start by saying if your chickens don't already drink out of this kind, you will have to teach them how to use them. Its pretty easy but just be aware of that.I like that this set comes with a tool to be able to get them in the buckets. That is a pain when you don't have that tool. I ordered these as backup for when my other ones eventually end up leaking. With a large flock and just farming in general, things get bumped and leaky. So far, so good. The ones that I have used are working. I am unsure if they will work longer than the other brand I bought, but we will see. If I don't have any leakers in 6 months, I will take that as a win.

I will start with the fact that they do work. I wasn't prepared for the need to train the chickens to use them. (I should have done more homework.) I know a lot of commercial raisers use nipples, so that can't be a deal-breaker, but it was an unexpected inconvenience.I waited to review these until I had some time to observe them in action, and to see if I learned any lessons to pass along. And there are some of those.First, they tend to leak - both at the seal and at the nipple itself. Even with the rubber seal on the outside, as directed. I switched from a round bucket to a square feed bucket with straight sides, and that fixed the seal leaks. I think you might be able to get them to work on a round bucket, but they're plastic and I worry about tightening them down that hard. Not only that, but you have to get them aligned perfectly vertical for best results (so the little cup is directly at the bottom). That means that if they aren't aligned perfectly when they come tight, you have to try and loosen them just a little, turn them, then re-tighten them - or you have to just keep tightening until it lines up on the next rotation. I think that over-tightening caused some of the slow leaking.Next, you want a bucket with a lid. But not an air-tight seal on the lid, because you will pull a vacuum inside the container and restrict water flow periodically. The lid is to keep debris out, because some of the leaking from the nipples turned out to be from debris getting caught in them. But... the tolerances seem to be such that they just catch and slow-leak sometimes. It's not the end of the world (so far) but just know that it requires keeping an eye on them.Finally, I worry about the birds getting enough water. The little cups at the bottom are very small, and each peck only lets out a little bit of water. In the hotter months I'm concerned about that. But it's not hot here now, so I'm just speculating.Overall, it's still better than what I've been doing, and the square bucket really has made things better. I'm sure ducks could get water from them, but I can't imagine that it would be enough. I debated between 3 and 4 stars. If the leakage gets worse, that could actually go down. If I learn to tweak things and reduce the leakage, I will move it up.

The instructions were easy to follow and the waterer nipples seem well made.The drill bit was very sharp so cut into the container quite easily. The plastic on the container was a bit too soft, so it tore more than cut and I had to tidy up the edges with a knife, but it was relatively simple to do.One nipple leaked on my first test fill but I loosened and retightened it and so far so good. I’d put that down to the plastic on the container more than anything else.I’ve used a small food waste box as the container as my chicks are only a few weeks old and still in a brooder. Once they’re a bit bigger I’ll re-install in a bigger container.Right now they haven’t quite got the idea of drinking out of it but I’m sure that’ll come with time.

Works well, and customer support was exceptional when I had a problem with one watering nipple.I've made 3 DIY waterers so far for my hens using these watering nipples. The included drill bit is a great touch that helped me get up and running. The nipples help with maintaining an abundant supply of clean water for longer periods of time compared to my previous watering setup.
