This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Volkswagen Beetle, Golf and Golf City (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

Despite amazon saying it doesn't fit, it is (in fact) the correct Curt receiver.It didn't quite fit up as easily as the curt installation video makes it seem. AND, I had to mount it slightly further rearward to get a more solid installation. This required buying a shorter bolt, an appropriate nut, and heavy washer from the local hardware store. Not too big of a deal. The other reason I mounted it further back, was that the hitch ball was far too close to the license plate. I test fit it by bracing, while using the included drawbar, and also a euro style drawbar with the permanent mount ball.As you can see from the pictures, I have no trouble towing up to the listed capacity. The little Rabbit Pickup made it just fine from Georgia to Massachusetts.My biggest complaint, however, is that there is a significant amount of gap between all three of my drawbars. This requires a little bit of shimming, or an anti-rattle brace. Otherwise, you're in for a noisy ride.

Was easy install works great. Follow instructions also curt has step by step youtube video which is very helpful. Receiver was a bit too close to bumper 8" so I ended up getting a longer receiver 11"

Install was not as easy as described, i had to make quite a big hole to fit one of the nuts in place ( the one nut that had the metal tab to help the placement ).Not the best option as it tends to pull the trailer to one side and thus pulls the while car to one side wearing the tires unevenly

Almost perfect fit, had to cut the muffler heat shield for proper install. Helpful hint: mark your parts as per schematic and it will be fairly easy. Took 1/2hr to install. Great product!

Solid build quality. All the parts were there. Barely fit the car as intended. The passenger rear bolt locations are extremely sketchy. I ruined the sheet metal in that area.The supplied hitch arm does not work. It's no where near long enough. The trailer was touching my rear bumper. I had to purchase another hitch receiver that was longer.

This hitch is extremely well made. It was not that easy to install though. The instructions were notright for my car. I ended up drilling a couple of holes in the wrong place because of the instructions.I was however able to get it installed and it is working perfectly. I had to make it fit, so to speak. It isnot perfectly designed for this car (2003 VW Golf). I would rate the hitch a 10 out of 10 if it was a perfect fit.As it is not, I would rate it an 8 out of 10.

I have hitches on 6 of my cars/trucks/vans this one has a very sloppey receiver tube no weight on trailer hitch is very noisey.
