All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Hyundai Elantra (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

Hopefully you don’t get shorted the actual hitch and only receive the ball mount like I did.Returned

The installation was straightforward, and it came with nearly all the tools I needed to set it up in my car. U-Haul was going to charge me $140, but instead, I just purchased the specific drill bit head and completed the installation myself in under an hour. I’ve since used it multiple times with 4x8 and 5x8 trailers, and it remains as sturdy as the day I first installed it.

The devivery was very speedy and exceeded my expectations. The instructions told me to "fishwire" a rectangular part through a small circular opening. Then try to feed a bolt though the rectangular part and drilled hole. It is almost impossible! Until you know the secret - you must first separate the rectangular plate from the bolt to get the two pieces through the access hole. The instructions say it will take an expert 30 minutes to install the hitch and a novice 60 minutes. It took me about 3 hours.

This is second hitch I've ever installed on a vehicle; the first one required me to drill several holes in the frame and makes some cuts into the bumper. My last car was a beater so I didn't mind it so much (except that it took a couple of hours to do the installation), but I bought my current car brand new so I was't eager to start making extensive and irreperable alterations to the frame and body. A friend recommended this brand as requiring minimum alteration and being a breeze to install; he was right, the only alteration needed was to widen two existing holes and it took less than half an hour to do the installation. The previous reviewer said it took him 3 hours until he discovered the "secret" of seperating the plate from the bolt; that "secret" is shown in the diagram of the one-page instructions. Even without looking at the instructions I really can't see how it would take 3 hours unless heavy drinking was involved.
